Umm, YES!!! After it got it's dyno tune, breaking traction is REALLY easy. I took it for a drive on my private test track, and was taking a VERY long sweeping corner. I'd been careful accelerating through 1st & 2nd because I knew it had 20% more grunt than previously, but when I changed from the top of second into third and stomped it and had the back end step out on me, I was in love!!! A light FR car with 170hp & 200Nm and a locked diff means it is exceedingly easy to make the rear step out. Plus it doesn't help that I've lowered the front but not the rear. :bash: 300hp will be interesting in a Corolla when I finally get the engine work done. ;)

As for meeting you guys in town, unfortunately I can't because I've gotta work. Hopefully I'll be able to change my roster soon so I get Friday nights off.

It'll be better when the engine's in the AE71 with an LSD rear end and fatter tyres. I'm looking at 8" wide rims for the AE71 with +9 offset. The current rims on the KE55 are 7" wide with far greater positive offset (the wheel weights rubbed the front struts so much that the weights wore away). As the diff I will most likely be using is 10-20mm wider than the standard AE71 version, and the wheels will have so much dish, it will mean that the car will should be extremely flat & stable through corners. It won't mean that it won't spin the wheels, but at least it will corner hard when I want it to, and should be quite controllable for grip driving or drifting.

Oh, and check out what I found on TradeMe.co.nz today: Starlet. A 4A-GZE can go into a Starlet. This is one option I'm considering for the Starlet when I take it off the road for it's big rebuild, but I'm as yet undecided. For now it's staying completely stock while I focus on the KE55 and the AE71.

I've given Shane the first option on this, but if he turns it down I'm open to offers: I'm getting rid of the AE71. I'm almost certain that the engine will start with some very minor work (it's a standard 4A-C). The gearbox (T50) only has 3rd & 5th gear, but I've got a spare T50 that can be purchased seperately. The body is fairly straight, except the front passenger side quarter panel has a dent in it - it would very easily be knocked back straight and smoothed out though.

The interior is in EXCELLENT condition, but only has one front seat. If I recall correctly it's the passenger side seat, but as it's not bolted down and I haven't taken a close look, I can't be certain. If needs be I can provide another driver's side front seat (from another AE71), but would rather not if possible. The back seat is fine, and the dash board is uncracked, and yes, this model has a tacho standard!!!

This is a very good example of an AE71, with only minor work needed for repair and rego. I don't have the rego papers, but have been in touch with the MVR and there should be no issues registering it by signing a statutory declaration. If you have any doubts you can get a REVS check to be safe.

As stated, Shane has first dibs on this car, and if he decides to turn it down, I will start taking offers from all around. I do NOT want to see this car thrashed and ruined, so I'd rather see a RollaClub member get it and do it up. I am looking at another vehicle, and to make room for it the AE71 has to go. However if I can't get a reasonable offer for the AE71, I will keep it as I have plans for it, and I doubt I'd ever find such a good example again.
