About 6ish months ago I got a few quotes to rebuild my current gear box anywhere between 1000-1500. Funny thing is he has all this sweet as shit like electronic boost controller etc I think. My gearbox doesnt crunch on upshifts it crunches going from 4-3 and 3-2 lol

Only thing its good for is f@$king the turbo. And shane you would shit all over the excel, I reckon my car would JUST be beaten by it. anyone know what its run down the 1/4? The Excel is quick. The MR2 may just beat it, but I don't think the AE82 would - sorry Stephen. :lol: well it is deff quicker than last time i saw him (was running like 3psi boost and always hitting the limiter set at like 3000rpm or sum shit so he is deff running higher boost ect. the only prob i seem to hav with my car is i can't get a good top speed i can accl so much quicker than most cars but the top speed is just not there well it is just not quick enough to get to He has upped the boost recently. He's got about 107kW at the wheels from memory - that's 20kW more than my KE55. :P I think he's using 8psi. Corollas and AW11's aren't designed for high speed. Work on the acceleration through power gains, and you'll find you'll pick up a bit of top speed at the same time. But remember that the 4A-GZE isn't designed with high rpm in mind, so anything over about 6,000-6,500rpm isn't going to see it at it's peak. what to do about my gearbox it crunches 3rd on a hard upshift and now 4th aswell it alreadi has redline gearbox oil but i think it may hav leaked out, whats it cost to get it rebuilt and is it worth it??? I'm not goin 2 do anything for a while coz i don't do that much hard shifting Hmm, if you could rebuild it yourself you'd be set. Otherwise, go the second-hand job. Maybe we should all go in for a bulk buy of parts from down south, eg. a 3S-GTE, a couple of 4A-GZE's, a few E-series gearboxes, etc. Save on freight by bringing it all at once. :) Funny thing is he has all this sweet as shit like electronic boost controller etc I think. I think you just have to shift a certain way. :cool:

HAHAHAHA BURN. What I was asking whether if the LSD would be all I need or would the gear box need a rebuild also? I have not the slightest clue about gearboxes, I wasnt whether or not the LSD is all I need or the synchros or whatever need replacing.

All I'm saying is that if you've spent the money on labour to have it opened up and worked on, you may as well get it rebuilt at the same time and save money in the future.

How do you spell it with five letters??? So you're quick enough to out accelerate it, but not quite enough to over take it. Sweet. With a few minor mods you may get enough to put you clearly in front. :cool: You'll just have to drive that bitch hard to get the most out of her. :lol:

ancullen Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 No, the LSD wouldn't come with synchros. I'm not certain how they operate on FWD gearboxes (or transaxles if you will), but on RWD cars they operate in conjunction with the final drive, not the other gears.
