yeah then what, do u think it would be cheaper to, A) cut it out, patch it up, or B) buy a whole new side skirt panel?

If the side skirt or sill pannel is rusted it is a structual component and defectable RTA have scanners to see rust that has been fibreglassed up. if the rust is that bad maybe look for a shell and transplant all your good parts onto it.

If you think the car is worth it, cut all the rust out "literally" with a grinder, fabricate replacement steel plates and weld? alot of time doing the process although if sealed properly the rust will more than likely never re-appear, :y:

yeah mine was cut out and welded in with a little fibreglass. and a tiny bit of rust is coming back on the fibreglassed bits but not the welded bits. so welded panels ftw!

 

EDIT: the rust thats coming back is only surface rust so nothing bad.

mate, welding is the only way to get rid of it. bogging just hides it for a while. if you aren't handy with a welder or grinder best is to save up and get a professional to do it.
