minirig Posted October 8, 2007 Author Report Posted October 8, 2007 cut it out yeah then what, do u think it would be cheaper to, A) cut it out, patch it up, or B) buy a whole new side skirt panel? Quote

If the side skirt or sill pannel is rusted it is a structual component and defectable RTA have scanners to see rust that has been fibreglassed up. if the rust is that bad maybe look for a shell and transplant all your good parts onto it. Clapped out Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 If you think the car is worth it, cut all the rust out "literally" with a grinder, fabricate replacement steel plates and weld? alot of time doing the process although if sealed properly the rust will more than likely never re-appear, :y: cheers phatke30! Murd 55 Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 (edited) yeah mine was cut out and welded in with a little fibreglass. and a tiny bit of rust is coming back on the fibreglassed bits but not the welded bits. so welded panels ftw! EDIT: the rust thats coming back is only surface rust so nothing bad. Edited October 9, 2007 by Murderess-KE55 Quote
78_7kRolla Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 mate, welding is the only way to get rid of it. bogging just hides it for a while. if you aren't handy with a welder or grinder best is to save up and get a professional to do it. Cheers Matt Quote
