ed-ke35 Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 hey everybody, i Have been browsing these forums for countless hours trying to find some usefull info about suspension upgrade for my application. i have read a few posts about lowering the car etc but i would like to keep the height of the car the same just make it alot stiffer. there was a small amount of info on adding extra leafs however i am still a little confused about doing this, so if someone could post pictures etc etc about how this is done. Also one of my mates mentiond that some model ford leaf springs fit in the rear but they are alont stiffer for the front i have seen that corona xt130 struts fit, but with those springs would it be around the same ride height or too low or too high? and also are they are a "direct bolt on" aka can you still use your stock brakes, strut tops etc etc. cheers eddie. Des Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 As far as i know xt130 struts will fit but you need use the lower control arms and steering arms as well. Use the Corona calipers and rotors as they are bigger. Corona springs will feel slightly stiffer in a Corolla because Corona's are heavier. Custom front springs would be the way to go as you can choose how stiff they are. Quote

Corolla1 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 yea, i got some helper spring on the back of my car. if does stiffen it up. it sounds like we want the same thing, I'm setting up a KE35 rally car. i will get you a picture soon, they basically are an extra leaf spring on the back Quote
greenmac80 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 These are helper springs. i'll vouch for them the rear end in my car was rock hard. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...st&id=20416 Quote
DearmanKE Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 (edited) when ug et the xt130 struts they will come with brakes, which are bigger yay! you wont need the xt130 arms i don't recon, plus i heard that ke30 ones are the same or only slightly shorter than xt130 ones like 5mm max. so if u do get any camber it wil only be slight and probs good. u will need xt130 steering knuckles with the xt130 struts, then you will be able to use any ae86 front shocks and springs and theres plenty have a look on here www.drivingclub.com.au easy to find stiff as shit stuff and people will make custom springs at any height and rate for about 200 (see A J P S) ps. to the mods, lawl at makeing A J P S say spja when written together :P Edited June 26, 2008 by Shizotimang Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 (edited) From what ive reading, the XT130 struts are the same as RT132 struts (out of a corona) only difference is the Caliper mounting on the RT is different. the XT struts allow you to run the Hilux caliper with no mods. Hence why the big boys tend to run the Pug/Hilux/XT130 combo. enough stopping power for most. But most seem to b!tch about the extra weight of this combo. Ive Got RA40 brakes and struts (out of a celica), you will need to use the LCA (lower control arm) and steering Knuckles (I'm pretty sure anyway, not certain) from the RA40 celica,. You will need to get a KE30 or KE55 ect lower spring seat to the strut, and use corolla springs and top hat. Ive started a Topic up with some helpfull info. trying to gather as much of this info into one thread, so any input into that will be great!! DearmanKE Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 yeh don't know much about spring seats but sounds about right i thought tho u could use conrona springs and top hat? because it has a larger shock? and strut tube? ra40 and xt130 control arms are the same, and ke30 ones may be the same again! can anyone measuer and get a foto of some Quote
