This is turning into a "my form of motorsport is better"... I was simply using ANDRA as a example. I just feel that $30-40 (plus entry) for a few 30 second runs is a bit excessive.

Yes, and that's a damned fine point! That's what I was saying in the very beginning of this post. I have NO idea what this "support" for grassroots motorsport is supposed to be. I have a feeling that they may purport to subsidise permits to run motorkhanas....?

 

Also, I thought that day licenses were around $20 - they were $15 not that long ago. And clubs like BSCC don't even have day licenses so we're lucky that HSCCQ even have a super cheap one.

 

I like Irokin's idea of directly subsidising first timer motorsport enthusiasts. An iniative like a "come and try day" where competitors pay a flat fee of, say, $40 for a lesson in motorkhanas plus all their licenses would be ideal. Maybe this is an idea that could be discussed by the motorkhana panel (hint hint :blinks: Fook)

Fook's team was first in class yesterday, and he's having a ball. I think they're still first in class as of today, I can't remember... I was slightly distracted by a game of Unreal Tourney that was on at the time.

Mel: Yes, "come and try" days have been mentioned, not much has been said about cost yet though. But yes, one is planned for beginning of next year.

 

And yes, we were pretty much 1st in class from Day 1. We finished 1st in class, 14th outright.

I know, I ran one a couple of years ago. They're not uncommon. What I meant was, actually asking CAMS to subsidise the cost of the day so that it is MUCH cheaper for newbies to try. Try and keep it to $20 or something. You could use the statements made in the CAMS letter as a basis for your application for funding.

Id be more than happy to fork over $20 to have a go at it.

Datgirl update: At the end of day two, Paul and Datgirl are coming 13th in the Late Classic Competetion at Classic Adelaide. At last report the car "Physically can't go any faster".

go datgirl hope she is having funsound like she is funny that a car can never go fast enough.

She's naving in a 180hp MarkII Ford Escort. The cost of the suspension alone would buy your Camry 4 times over. Paul's a serious pedaller, if she says it can't go any harder, the next step is to bolt wings to it.....

 

I think they're about 19th overall, big effort when you look at the competition.......
