Its definately fish eyes which is mostly caused by silicone, oil & water, It can also be caused from leaving wax and grease remover on too long, I don't know why its coming out a few hours later but i did a paint job where it came out when we finished the car (paint place was selling thinned paint and we werent aware so my mate mixed it up with thinners, It still had a good consistency), Do you have a water seperator on the compressor?

I have a water separator at the compressor then another at the airline with a regulator on that one. then a drip leg on the compressor its self.

The old man had a look and recons its silicone contamination. Could possibly be from the car being polished with a silicone based product before, A rag you used to clean it had silicone on it or someone that was in contact with silicone touched it.

 

He recons to Rub out as much of the defects as possible

 

use some 800 grit sandpaper, then 2000 grit & prepsol (Wax and grease remover) to clean it up with a fresh rag.

 

He said it would be OK to paint straight back over the top as it is fresh paint.. (No need to re-prime it)..

I have seen silicon contamination with Acrylic paint it happens straight away, it also seems to pool at the edges with acrylic, Does two pack happen later?

 

the vehicle is a 1933 international tow truck I don't think they had silicon polish back then. it must be my prepsol rag. or the products here is the products i used,

I would have to say it is silicon on the rags u used to wipe it down,strange it happened a few days later,more often than not it shows within an hour of painting,clean it down,light sand for a key with a quick dust over,add silicon drops into your mixture,should be okay from there,maybe a decent cut an polish when your finished.

 

another thing could be if there was welding done in/around where it was drying,the gas from welders does this sort of thing to.

I am a painter with 12 years exp. I think by looking at the pics it is more than likely solvent boil, caused by either mixing different brands paint, temperature too hot (it dries quicker, so you are applying too heavy to get it to flow out, but that then causes heavy film build). If it was a silicone based problem it would happen straight away. Solvent boil can take a few hours or a day to appear. If you don't rub it out properly the first time it will always appear in the paint no matter how many times you repaint it. When temps are that high try to use the slowest hardener and thinners you can. Hope this helps. Good luck with it.

Sorry mate, just thought of something! Try giving it a cut with 1500 wet and dry and buffing it. 80% of the time this will work if the pin holes aren't too deep.

I have seen this before if prepsol is not washed off correctly.

 

Something you may not realise about 2pak vs acrylic,

 

with 2pac you will rarely get any reactions off the gun, they will appear within the next 6months to 1yr. After a year you are generally safe.

 

Acrylic will usually show during painting.

at work had a bar with pin holes all through it, i had prepared it previous to paint and it felt fine. ended up the pin holes were in the bog, now i had primed it and rubbed it all and it seriously felt like every other bar i had done. so if it is occuring over where there is maybe bog or something alike that could be the answer. to solve it i sanded it all back with 800 and then ran bog over where the pin holes were and you can tell if it pin holes if any of the bog goes into the holes, if not then it probs something else. id go with sillicon or wax or something alike.

I found out the paint was just rubbish I ended up spraying my car trailer with it to use it up. This Car I am rebuilding now a 1927 Hudson. I will Probably go back to using Acrylic, I will buy all new products from crash supplies to rule out contamination.
