NVE00S Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Hey i have a ae102r with a 7afe engine no modification and lately it has been chewing through oil, so i am looking at what my options are to remedy this problem. Has anyone had experience with this type of engine/car? I would like to gain some power if possible but if its going to be a huge job ill just get the 7afe re-built. I'm wondering what engine swaps are possible both legally and practical.(I live in NSW) NOTE I'm trying to be realistic i drive this car daily! Quote
Des Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Rings or valve stem seals are worn if there is blue/white smoke. Black smoke is unburnt fuel. What year is your car as a blacktop 20v 4age might be an option ? Quote
machg Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 (edited) 7afe low blow turbo, Toyota did a factory version called Corolla Sportivo. Edited January 12, 2008 by machg Quote

What year is your car as a blacktop 20v 4age might be an option ? Its a 96 model The smoke isn't blue but the lack of oil in the car and the lack of a leak leads me to believe the oil is getting burnt But i know its getting over fueled too. What else is involved in doing a swap/mod? Is it like mass wiring and engine bay mods? Or are they pretty much a bolt in and hook a new computer up? The turboing my motor is a option and it could be better cos i can fix the motor now and turbo it later. also i heard you can bolt a 4agze head onto a 7afe block and make a 7agze motor. I haven't had much experience with engine swap/mod so any advice would be appreciated. Quote

Jono Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 a 4agze head is the same as a 4age head (of the equivalent motor. bigport, smallport) the pistons is the only difference between them. Quote

You can pick up a rebuilt long motor from a Repco motor trader and just swap your manifolds and mounts etc over, Not sure of a price as i haven't done a 7afe but it would be cheaper than a engine conversion and its the stock engine for the car so no mod plates till you turbo it. Realistic as a daily ? get a trade motor and stick that in and go from there. Edited January 13, 2008 by AE70 Quote
ae174agze Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 (edited) well really a front cut would be your best option cos you get engine computer breaks basicly everything forward of the dash in one package deal-eo or you can search arround u could probably get an engine lume and ecu for 800-1500 bucks if u looked hard enough don't go out and buy a engine straight up if you wait someone will always have a nother engine they wanting to sell generally cheaper than the last Edited January 17, 2008 by ae174agze Quote
bduffman Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 i had the same problem with mine it was dead i was filling the oil like every week it was stuffed and wasnt leaking just heeps smokey i got a replacement 7afe set me back 1200 but that was with new radiator hoses to and that was installed it was 550 to buy the motor and the motor only had 40,000kms on the clock and its working fine since Quote
