I'm at the stage of sanding and bogging holes and rust.

 

I'm not to sure how to prime it after tho.

and where to get the primer.

 

is it spray primer etc etc

Bare metal re-sprays require to use of "Etch primer"! :hmm:

Man that sounds a bit scary.

 

You can get primer from any paint shop, they will guide you as to what you need.

go to a specialist automotive paint supplies store and start asking questions.

sounds like you ahve jumped into this without alot of research, maybe search on google, spray painting car at home, rust repair, etc. save you making a pratt of yourself and/or getting ripped off.

do you want to spray in acrylic enamel or 2pak? if you want to paint acrylic or enamel you can use an acrylic primer if you want to paint 2pak you have to use the 2pak primer.

I recommend using Protec high build etch prime...

add about 15% thinners to it and you can build up a really thick layer of primer.

making it easier to get the bodyworl smooth.

Actually its the other way round, you cannot spray acrylic over 2 pac primer, but you can use 2 pac over acrylic primer.

can't spray Acrylic over anything for that matter. If you prime over old paint, then hit it with acrylic, shortly thereafter the toluene in the paint will lift all the old paint - start again!

 

My uncle is a panelbeater and he recommended I use the Protec primer on my car.
