blacktopspirit Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 Is there a 3k alive worth spending this much money on? http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=7119 Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 bit of a contradiction in the post too. 3k conrods...suits a 1300 motor??? But to some it would probably be worth it. like he said for clubman or historics. people would probably pay the money. Quote
Redwarf Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 FWIW I have a 1360cc 3K downstairs..... Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 CHEAP... If there rigi dige TRD 3K conrods WITH TRD pistons wont go well ina road car designed to RACE hard but man $700 is cheap and about on the money. There is a mob in the USA who press out forged H beam conrods for K motors at $1000 a pop seen them in a K motor to was a 3K and think it ran a high 12 second pass from memory so if your crazy and got cash there cheap I guess. But a cheap set of 1G conrods and you'll be fine :) Cameron Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 FWIW I have a 1360cc 3K downstairs..... good point. Seeing as how they are suited for racing they would be for a changed capacity. my bad in that regard. I'm probably going to sound like a dumbass for asking...whats FWIW? Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Ah ok i understand now. Thanks for the clear up. Quote
love ke70 Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 yes its worth it i just paid 1200 for my pistons for the 1g, and 800 for the Hbeam rods, and thats cheap... Quote
blacktopspirit Posted April 11, 2008 Author Report Posted April 11, 2008 Really! I just didn't think people spent so much money on the old 1300's & 1200's I guess they do have there own racing class which makes them popular Quote
love ke70 Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 well, as i said, mines for the 1g, but when your building a motor, 700 bucks is f@$k all if your serious about it... Quote
freakmotor Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) $700 about right for 4 conrods and 3 pistons? I wonder if it's like buying 3 really nice mags at a wreckers for cheap, then finding out that the 4th mag to complete your set is more than the first 3..........can't build a house or hotel until you own the whole set! Wheels maybe just use two on the back or front or whatever, your trailer etc......pistons......you might find that fourth rod is a bit too noisy and scratchy in the bore, just flopping around without a slug on top, plus setting the idle will be more challenging too. So what happened to the mysterious fourth piston? Bet the other three know all about it! Edited April 16, 2008 by freakmotor Quote
love ke70 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 detonation = cracked ringland = throw it in the bin sell the rest and pretend we lost it. thats my bet anyway. at the end of the day, why would u buy second hand internals for a motor if your doing a good build? Quote
