HRV-00S Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Hi.... I've been playing with this thing for the last few days and can't work it out. The car is missing the front blinkers/parker's but I don't now if there needed to complete the circuit? D/S blinkers work (rear & side) P/S rear blinker works (side blinker not working) Number plate lights not working at all Head lights, tail lights and brake lights work, but when the head lights are on the P/S blinker comes on and stays on (rear only) Just wondering if there's a common fault/easy fix, or just something I should be checking. I've had a poke around with a dodgy test lamp with no real success. I spliced the no# plate light wires into a hot wire (parker's?) in the boot that had power but still no love. No idea what to try so any suggestions would be appreciated :P Cheers Dan Quote
ke30dude Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 For the rear indicator staying on, check out and clean your earths it may help it may not. The number plate lights, what are the contacts in the bulb holders like? the contacts to the bulb may be corroded. also maybe check the bulbs on a battery. the side light, check the earth coming in from the light and the connection for the actual indicator circuit. A cheapo mulitimeter and a workshop manual are worth their weight in gold for niggling electical problems in my opinion. Quote
towe001 Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Another spot to look at would be the connections Quote
HRV-00S Posted June 10, 2008 Author Report Posted June 10, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the quick response guys, I'm going to get some contact cleaner and go over everything connections wise and check all the earths too. I do have a multimeter but it's at my old mans place so I'll grab that too, as for the manual which one's are the best? I know there's a few brands that vary slightly in there layout. Would something like this do considering mines a 76 model, close enough or better of with the early model manual? Gregorys ke55 manual Cheers Dan Edited June 10, 2008 by HRV-00S Quote
towe001 Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Yes and no. This one will cover "more" of the '30 then the what the other manual will, mainly cause the earlier manual also covers the '20 series rolla. I'd say it'd be a good idea to get both. When i had my old '30 i was swapping between both books cause of what one book covers the other one doesn't Quote
sammo[RL] Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Get the earlier one, for the right model. ke55 had differet wire colours and slightly different electrics. Re your problem, change all the dead bulbs, and check your earths in the boot, I had a similar prob in my 30... Quote
towe001 Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 At times that easier said then done, with my old '75 model '30 the wire colouring was completely different to what the three books i had. Quote
charl Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 i had the same problem with my headlights not working and my indicators not flashing etc, but after i got my parker/ indicators installed everything worked fine so i dare say you do need those to complete the circuit just like i did in the 20. hope this helps mate. HRV-00S Posted June 14, 2008 Author Report Posted June 14, 2008 Thanks guys, Got everything working now except the interior light but that's not a big deal. I cleaned up all of the earth connections which helped, then there was a dodgy connection for the number plate lights (the connector that splits off to the 2 lights) the wire had broken off inside the rubber boot but looked like it was still connected. L/H blinker wasn't flashing, (staying on) so I split the casing to see what was happening. One of the mechanisms was sticking but worked with a little help. A bit of sticky tape to hold it down and everything seems to be working as it should. I don't have the front blinkers/parkers and it doesn't seem to affect the rest of the lights. Cheers Dan Quote
