we're getting the crank crack tested and tested for straightness etc, that will tell us more about the engine and its condition :insane:

more to confirm if it has worn oval etc....

i get on well with the local engine rebuilders so its costing $30nz well worth it i reckon. we shall soon find out anyway!

and i hope the results are all good :insane:

 

if not... i do have the crank out of the other engine that is lying around in the garage, so if i get up the energy to take that engine apart, i will take that crank in for testing too :D

YAY the crank came back sweet as, its not oval or whatever :insane: :D

 

so next on the agenda for my engine is to get new bearings, rings, water pump, and then gotta get the cam reground...

 

there is other bits and pieces that i need aswel, like air filters for the carbs, oil & filter...

 

the list goes on and on....

..... and the list never actually seems to get shorter!

... or cheaper!!

nor do the damn parts put themselves together whilst i sit inside and play the playstation or the girlfriend

hey guys i need abit of help/advice :D

 

i have a cracked piston, i have a new one to replace it, but i can't get the piston pin out of the cracked one ;) any tips on how to do this? i could get the snap rings out easy enough, i just can't get the pin out

didnt come with new gugeon pins?! To get mine out I think I grabbed a short piece of dowel and punched It through. Just make sure you take the circlips out :D

yeah i got a new pin, but i have to get the old piston off the rod thing

 

i shall try your idea of brute force and let you know how i get on :D

Yea theres 2 holes up underneath the piston. You might be able to get some in but I dunno if its gonna help.

haha what with all the duty free and car parts ill be bringn back my luggage will be rather heavy me thinks!

 

did you get another piston? for that other cracked one i found?

na i havnt got another one yet, will probably get that sumtime next week,

 

today ive been busy cleaning all the engine bits ;) me + petrol + toothbrush = dam funny to watch hahaha :D
