OK so teddy found a gze for cheap, having a look at it on Sunday. Seems almost to good, i don't think it comes with ECU/wiring harness or radiator. But for how much its cheap.

 

But if it dosnet run ie no ECU. is there any signs to say "I'M A BIG PIECE OF SHIT AND YOU GETTING RIPPED OFF" ?

 

because you no the saying, "if its too good to be true it probly is"

I'd be more inclined to buy a complete running 1/2 cut, then you can tell it runs.. only way you can really test anything on a bare motor is a compression test, even then that won't tell you much about the rest of the engine..

pull the cam covers off and see what it looks like

look into as much of the cooling system as possible.

pull the sump off...

 

all depends on how much of a gamble your willing to make...

 

are you intending to rebuild it? is it complete with s/c? are you gunna turbo it?

also comes with a hole car..... :D

needs to be rebuilt, I'm still thinking.

 

Problems....

 

Hasn't been used in god knows how long

Motor is in pieces but all the parts are there... some were in the car.

 

SC moves freely, but there a slight knock were the pulley touches the case.

lets say the motor is a dud...can you deal with having to rebuild it? (time, money etc). If you can't then don't risk it...keep looking and hopefully you'll get a running 1/2 cut at a decent price

 

theres not much else you can do beyond what mr revhead has suggested & if its been sitting for long time... :D

 

plan for the worst but hope for the best...at least you can't be disappointed :P

+ a 4agze motor which was working when it came out.

 

+ freking heaps of extras...

by the look were the dizzies mounted its from a AW11 = AFM = crapish

 

but ive herd of people converting them? no?

 

I'm not gonna post pics cuse ill probably get bashed up :D its been sitting for a VERY long time...

 

o and btw i was aways planning to rebuild it

whats involved?

 

 

With the old GZE Ive come to find there pistons are not ceramic coated :D

and baring and pins not a strong :P :S as well as having a lower compression

ALL 4agze pistons are ceramic coated.

 

aw11 on left ae92 onwards on the right

 

the cranks, rods etc etc are the same. they are not weaker engines.

cure for lower compression is more boost.... from the sounds of it the s/c could be poo. so go turbo

 

afm isnt crapish, just not as powerful in stock form as the map engines.

ok, people say AFM sucks so eh.

 

Ill probly convert to map any way. Yere about the S/C it spins REALLY freely, but it has a knock here.
