oh the pictures make it look a hundred times better than it does in real life, haha.

one day it will have a proper paint job, still undecided about colour, but i guess i'll have a long time to decide.. :hmm:

so the tailshaft hadnt been tightened properly?

 

and it wasnt a failed uni joint?

 

who was the last person to refit the tailshaft?

 

suspect.

i don't think the tailshaft was very well balanced to begin with, the car would shake a bit between 60 and 70, and i never really thought anything of it.

that day was just a little worse, going faster probably didnt help.. and i guess the bolts just got even more loose and eventually dropped out

 

Thank your lucky stars it wasnt your front uni that failed!

oh i know, may not even have the back half of the car.

Failure of the front uni can result in the tailshaft working like a Pole-vault under the car.

This is the reason some motor sport events make a "tailshaft loop" compulsary - to catch the front, not the back as that'll just drag.
