Believe me, I don't want to do the car like this. Want it to be a LOT different. I just was messing around in

Photoshop. I'm thinking of doing a nice blue colour; possibly similar to Teddy's '70, but where the orange

stripes are, perhaps have it white to match with a white grille. :lolcry:

I've been told (for Canberrans) that wheels can be 2 sizes larger than regular. With some thinner tyres it

won't be a cop magnet. Although, i'd really like fats on the back. Looks cool.

Oh and its "Colour" NOT "Color"

I spelt it right on the first one! I was in a hurry for work :y:

With an engineers cert, you should be able to have whatever wheels you want. (if you want to muck around with that)

On my commodore I run 18x10 and haven't got done... yet.

I'd say that's right... 2" bigger in wheel diameter and 1" wider. So yes, 15x6.5's. BUT I'd have to have atleast 15x7's on the back. Need to be wide!! :lolcry:

UPDATE:

I called up the bloke I'm picking the car up off and he said he forgot to tell me that the car has a SPORTS EXHAUST!

What a bargain! A custom paint, 13" cheviot hotwire rims, and a sports exhaust Corolla :D

Ordered my permit from VIC Roads today for 3 days - just incase we break down on the way home :)

Are you going down there in a Delorean?

Haha, I searched Delorean and YES, I am going back in time. Back to the future FTW :P I must use this quote when I get the opportunity. :D

I was meant to write November :)

UPDATE:

Well, folks... The Purple Car has made it back to Canberra. I was very happy with the performance of the car on the 8 hour drive home. The 3k

purrs like a dog. :D

Exhaust: The exhaust is a 2" or 2.5" from the middle muffler with a Hot Dog in the middle - sounds beasty as!

Motor: Standard 1.2 litre 3k motor in very good running condition. Not sure on the mileage it has done because of the 5 digit odometer.

Suspension: Stock suspension in the front with cut springs and leaf springs/Monroe shocks (standard?) in the rear.

Brakes: Drums on the back and standard? discs on the front. It had a LOT of air in the brake lines and had to put your foot down to stop it on

the way home.

Interior: Very clean looking front seats. Passenger is overrated and drivers is decent although a collapsed side and a few unnoticeable splits. The rear

seat is a little damaged on the top from stretching and things resting on it and a few on the back rest, but will clean up alright. The dash pad has

a couple splits in it unfortunately, but the front of the dash is fairly clean and tidy apart from a corner broken off of the ashtray. The door trims

on the front are pretty good, mainly because they don't have speaker holes cut in them, although there are a couple tears and cuts just next to

the back rest of the seat, which aren't real easy to spot without the door being open. The rear door trims are decent and will clean up nicely.

The boot/rear of the car is a little tacky because it had "shag" :jamie: pile in the back, which was glued on with some gel-grip.

Body: The body of the car is a little disappointing. There are small, but fixable rust spots all over the place, such as on the driver-side front pillar,

on the bottom of the tailgate, a little underneath the front of the car and small places here and there on panels. There is also a fair few little dents,

all over, which spoil the look of it when close up. The bumpers are also (both) a little bent and twisted up.

Wheels: I'm in love with the rims on the car. They just match perfectly! Cheviot Hotwires 13x6's I believe, which look pretty tough on it, which still

have decent rubber on them. (I will be putting these rims - if they fit - onto my Red Car, since I don't have any rubber on the red car tyres). It was

also disappointing to find a stock spare tyre, rather than a Cheviot :D

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car for just over $500 and I hope to one day have it all straightened up and looking clean, with a tough little

motor to give it a bit of bite.

Pictures will be in the following post.

Here is the link to my Gallery to look at the pictures of the Purple Rolla.

Please comment on the thread, rather than in the gallery, please.

I'm not sure on how to get a number of decent sized pictures on threads without using up all of my "attachment space". I saved the images as 1024x768 sized JPEG's, which is a good size. I'm not too keen on image-hosting websites, since they sometimes go down. What's the best way to get photo's up for decent viewing?

Also, let me know what you think of the car. I'm very interested in ways I can change it or make it better!

Thank you for looking!

Vinnie

The Purple Car was driven to school today and I had an unlimited amount of interest in the car. Everyone was coming over and commenting on the "fatness/toughness/coolness" etc. of the car, with plenty of stares from onlookers while driving the tough sounding and looking Purple Car.

Now that I've had a decent, but not thorough look at the Purple Car, I've determined what I'm going to do with it... It's going to sit in my front driveway for a few months before I can get together some cash to do some panel work. Then, I will try my best to take EVERYTHING apart and clean, recondition and re-paint it as I want to do a really good job of restoring it to good condition. Once the panel work is done, I will focus on bringing the interior to a very clean, original-looking standard. After the interior is completed, I will work on the mechanics of the car and possibly build up a strong 5k motor with a good suspension and brake setup so it will be a real fun car to cruise in!

I have found several problematic rust spots. Under the front of the car, under the engine bay there are quite a few holes and badly wounded spots. There is a "decent" sized rust spot on the driver-side front pillar, on the bottom of the tailgate where moisture has built up, under the right hand rear seat back rest hinge, the back of the rear right wheel arch and a few other areas I'd say! I hope the panel work isn't going to cost too much :( I wish it were like my rust-free (not even surface rusted) Red Car.

This is going to be one long, enjoyable project! |blink|
