Pins only locate the pads in the caliper. Though if its that bad, might not hurt to remove them (and the pads) just incase they're all groved and binding up.

I undid the two 17mms at the back. Doesn't move an inch. It almost looks like you need to take the part of the caliper closest to you off first, and then you're able to slide the part furthest from you off some mounts. It's what it looks like, and I thought if it's not as simple as just removing the two big bolts and smacking them with a hammer (as I've tried that and they are shit stuck), I'd ask around before I f@$ked them up :)

Si I once got a set of brakes off a KE70 panel van that were Sumitomo calipers so maybe a few made it through.

The pannos were imported though I think, and thus not necessarily needing to meet Australian content requirements.
