sleepy92 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 i've just finished a 4AG conversion into my ke35... doing some testing over the last few days, i've sheared my rear brake line twice. when the engine revs it rocks to the drivers side of the car and the rear of the inlet manifold just touches the rear brake line right where it exits the master cylinder. just wondering if anyone has had this problem too, and how they fixed it I'm currently trying to find if there is an alternate master cylinder that bolts onto the later model ke3x brake booster, but is narrower (giving me more clearance between brake line and inlet manifold) or has downward facing brake line outlets. greenmac80 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 you can bolt and nc pajero MC to it. and also to help with clearances you can get banjo fittings from ford telstars. and probs other cars but thats what i got. Quote
sleepy92 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) thanks mate just checking though, my stock booster has a diagonal bolt arrangement... the pajero MC's that i've seen have a horizontal bolt arrangement, that from what i've heard fits onto the EARLY ke3x booster. can you clear up for me whether the pajero MC you're talking about has horizontal or diagonal bolt? banjo fitting is another thing i've been thinking about... good to know that the telstar has them. looks like i'll be making a trip to the wreckers. how narrow are the banjo fittings, cos i've only got a 10mm gap when the inlet & MC are installed Edited February 21, 2009 by sleepy92 Quote
Redwarf Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Have you got the big ugly PBR thing on it? The one with the rectangular lid? Quote
greenmac80 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 yeah it has a horizontal arrangement. banjo fitting takes up about 10mm-20mm. you MC is probably the problem. the pajero one is quite slim. just get yoursefl an early 30 brake booster and mc get em from a u pull it style wrecker for under 100 bucks. sleepy92 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Redwarf: yeah the VERY big VERY ugly PBR thing... Greenmac: I'll go to the wrecker asap :P thanks mate Quote
KE ping it real Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 If worst comes to worst you can get the pajero MC on ebay from a company called brakewest for $119.95 Quote
Redwarf Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 You'll be chasing something that looks like this then. I have the same problems with cars with 2TGs. Quote
sleepy92 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 redwarf: is that the early ke3x booster & master? if it is, i think that would work with my setup you don't happen to have any spares sitting around do you? Quote
Redwarf Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Only being a relative new comer to 30 series, I believe so. One of the other boys would be able to give you a definite answer. This set-up belongs on my 37 replica. The new shell came with the PBR monster and this one is going onto that car. Sadly, no spares at this time. I've got a PBR one going cheap though... :) Quote
dfunkt Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 redwarf: is that the early ke3x booster & master? FWIW, i pulled one of those brake MC out of a late ke30. Quote
coln72 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I had that set up in my '75 KE35. Not 100% but I think that set up came in imported Corollas. Aussie built ones had the PBR set up. Quote
silverra23 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 My KE35 race car with 2tg has the same set-up as reddwarf has shown. It gives some clearance to the carbys, though not much! Quote
kryton brown Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 The one REDWARF has is the early one. same as the one that came on my '75 KE30. You can bolt a commodore master to the pbr type you have but i'm not sure where the pipes exit or if you'll get more or less clearance. Quote
sleepy92 Posted February 23, 2009 Author Report Posted February 23, 2009 great info guys. thanks i'll be heading to a wrecker to test out some of those options in the next couple of days Quote
