April 16, 200917 yr comment_336978 the black wire should go to the negitive of the ignition(to tell what revs it's doing) and then red goes to ignition power(so when you turn the key on the tacho turns on and then you have the power wire for the lights which is self explanitory run it to a park light wire what brand of tacho do you have if it is autometer there wil be two wires that come out the back of the tacho and you will have to cut a 1 wire for a 6 cylinder and both for a 4 banger and leave them alone for a v8 speco meter i think there is just a switch at the back of the tacho for how many cylinders it has Report

August 8, 200917 yr comment_364419 I have just replace my non tacho cluster with a tacho one for my Ae95,everything works except for the tacho, does anyone which wire I'm missing to get the tacho to work ? Thanks Terry Report
August 17, 200917 yr comment_366490 They don't. Incorrect.... mostly. You can use the IGf signal as a low level (5V) tacho signal. I'm also quite certain that the ignitor has a dedicated tacho output as well. If you have an old style tacho that used to connect to the coil negative terminal, you might need a tacho booster to get the tacho to work from the low-level tacho signal.
