mungi mods Posted April 27, 2009 Author Report Posted April 27, 2009 thats how you do it properly kids! Thanks !!!
bLinded_ Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Somewhat perfect timing of making this thread. I have this same task ahead of me, and this is a great help. Much easier to follow something with pictures than it is to go nuts and have absolutely no idea on the best way to do it. Good job :P
the witzl Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 awesome tech thread. I now feel confident enough to give this a go myself, one day

redae71 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) just did this this avo, turned out frigin awesome! i had the guards off the car though when i did it, made it a bit more fiddly probably but they werent bolted up in the first place. Edited October 31, 2009 by redae71
LXY-642 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 this would work for any car yes? and also is it just the outside edge that is being bought out? the bit where it goes flat? or can you do the whole standard flare to be bigger with doing this?
mungi mods Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 you can widen whole flare doing this ... can be done on any car even ones that don't have an actual "flare " section to start with my old car's guards were widened by 3 inches doing this , all factory steel with no cutting etc
B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Good article, following these directions right now, its actually quite a basic process. Those guards are extremely malleable and don't need too much persuasion to form the shape you want. EDIT: And I'm just using a normal hammer and a block of wood. I'll put some pics up when I'm done. B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I achieved pretty sweet results just with the block of wood and a normal hammer. These aren't finished but already look sweet. I did all 4 but you get the idea from these. The rear guards are a bit trickier as they are thicker and you need to do a lot more precision bashing.
lancerdup69 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 hey all, I know this is an old thread but looking for some info on flaring rear guards on my ae71. I have flared the fronts which look sweet, wondering if you have to cut the inner guard out or flare the same process and fronts with both inner and outer guards? any info and / or pics would be awsome! Thanks and will post some pics when finished :)
lancerdup69 Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 also - i am flaring to fit 15x8 - 0 offset thanks
