September 11, 201016 yr Author comment_467722 Hi Ryan, Looking good mate, it's worth taking that fly wheel off and getting it faced. (especially with a new clutch plate) Also check the rear main seal at the same time, last thing you want to do is put it all back together and have it leak, you could ruin a new clutch you wont tell until it's running and under load. Only take you half an hour. The seals tend get brittle if the engine's been sitting for a while. haha yeah i know man just thought id could save a fair few dollars here is all, do you how much a new clutch kit and throw out bearing cost and how much would i except to get the fly wheel resurfaced? also is it safe to re use the fly wheel bolts???? September 12, 201016 yr comment_467923 yeah the calipers mainly, disks I assume you could get from most parts stores? Also are the corona struts hard to come by and do they have many aftermarket options for springs and shocks? Report
September 12, 201016 yr Author comment_467961 yeah the calipers mainly, disks I assume you could get from most parts stores? Also are the corona struts hard to come by and do they have many aftermarket options for springs and shocks? yeah its a tuff one mate theres a few options out there but not a hell of a lot of solid info to back up the theroy, people have used this and that and come up with there own combinations i guess, i use xt130 corona struts, think there a 1982 ish model, you can fit mx62 calipers to them struts with a few slight mods, the celica disks bolt straight on to the xt130 hubs, the struts arnt extremely hard to find ,just have to have a good hunt around the wreckers, the calipers on the other hand are getting a little rare these days from what ive seen, I'm still not 100 percent happy with the xt130 struts, they leave the camber not so good,i still have to figure out how to correct it , you can get coil overs and adjustable towers but then your looking serious money , by the time i stuff around looking at struts and buying vairous struts ,corolla ,corona, celica, calipers disks, bearings, brake pads ,hoses ,caliper kits etc etc etc i was up wards of 1500 bucks , so do your research before you jump in to a set plan , I'm think ing about going to the hilux caliper and purgoet disk mod at the moment ,but ill still be stuck with the camber issue, and i can't run coil overs becasue of the off set of my wheels,(to close to strut) so yeah good luck with your desicion , keep watching casue ill post up my findings and definite answers, Report
September 12, 201016 yr comment_468013 ^^^ with this the ra28 celica struts have correct camber on a ke30, and the larger bearing size. I wouldn't bother replacing the flywheel bolts, not even the owners manual tells you to do that. Also what you have done with the flywheel and sanding disk works quite well, i wouldnt risk it on a car like this though, just to be sure. use thinners to clean both flywheel and metal clutch surfaces before assembly. Also i have a full manual for an sr20, so if you need bolt torque specs or anything, just pm me. Report

September 12, 201016 yr comment_468153 Going by the Kingpin inclination thread on TM. there's only 0.3deg difference in XT130 and KE70 kingpin angles. As far as i know, KE70 and KE55 struts are identical (apart from springs etc) Report
September 12, 201016 yr comment_468172 If ke70 and ke55 struts are identical does that mean that you could bolt ae86 struts straight into a ke55 like you can a ke70? Report
September 13, 201016 yr Author comment_468330 If ke70 and ke55 struts are identical does that mean that you could bolt ae86 struts straight into a ke55 like you can a ke70? ive been told the ae86 is a good option when it comes to the hole camber issue, the problem there is getting a set! very hard to come by and no doubt cost you if you find some, i think by the looks of the hole thing this is an issue that will continue to be debated till the end of time , i guess in the end its what works for your set up that matters, just wish there was some more genuine info to go off rather than try this try that, been there and it cost me a hell of alot of cash , just want a decent up grade in braking with out the camber issues , will continue to research i guess Report
