Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone could clarify rear swaybars for me.

Up until recently (when we were trying to get new bushes and links for the rear swaybar in my ke55) we thought that the swaybar was factory. The suspension place that we got them from said that there were no listings for parts for a ke55 rear swaybar. I'm quite sure that not all of them came out with one.

It's just your standard CS 1980 ke55 4 door corolla.

I was just wanting to know whether the swaybars were stock on a certain class of them, whether it came from a later model or if it's all aftermarket.

Cheers

Kylie

Yeah my 81 ke55 had one. And my 79 ke38 wagon doesn't. So I guess JiP is right on the money they started at 1980.

What I would like to know is if there is a way of putting one on an earlier model. Do they all have the mounts? Or would you have to make them?

Don't mean to steal your thread Kyle, just interested to know..

Cheers

I have a september 1980 Hardtop with round headlights. It doesn't. But the new models usually started in October. One of my sedans was 1980 too but it had squares. It had it.

If it helps at all whiteline make a whole rear sway bar kit ready to go straight in that I'm about to purchase for my ke35 (also do the fronts aswell). that with the bolts and everything to attach to the diff but I'm guessing you already have the mounts on the diff. So at least you know you can get one for it also K mac (i can't remeber how to spell it) make a swaybar for corolla but they are more expensive.

Yeah basic rule of thumb - If it has SQUARE headlights, it has a rear sway bar.

Oh-ke - I'm pretty sure earlier '55's and even '30's already have to holes in the chassis rails to mount a late '55 sway bar. :S
