rjenman Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Ok so your 4K-C cuts out at idle and you are about to mess around with the carb. First make sure this is plugged in: Oh wtf a loose plug. Oh there we go. Car now idles perfectly. Hope this saves someone some trouble Quote
rjenman Posted July 1, 2005 Author Report Posted July 1, 2005 before it actually came out i was having on and off problems with stalling like that, so also check it is properly connected even if its hasn't come out. I am just glad I saw this before I started messing around with the carb too seriously Quote
Felix Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 (edited) i've had hassles with these stupid things before. on some ke10 and ke20 carbs there is a blanking bolt. you just put it in your later carb allowing you to do away with the solenoid. if you remove the solenoid: in hot weather, or if you have overadvanced timing, or a lean mixture......you could experience runon or dieselling when you turn your car off. demuire Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Interesting, maybe this is the problem with Haikals car. Well, it hasn't had the problems for awhile now since we fixed the timing etc, but it used to runon sometimes, but generally only when the engine got quite hot... Quote
Medicine_Man Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Simple way to know if its working, turn your ignition on and touch it together so it completes the circuit, you should hear a clicking sound, then you know its all good  Quote
Super Jamie Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 i always grind the end off my carb solenoids for this exact reason if you pick up an M8 Fine bolt (found everywhere on nissans), you can make your own blanking plug, just be sure to use the original copper washer gasket Quote
cookie Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 great stuff I was wondering all this while what is d function of a fuel solenoid until u guys came up with this chapter  Quote
Banjo Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Funny; I came upon this just last weekend. Have built a test bed on the garage floor out of a couple of 200mm x 50mm hardwood sleepers I got from the local landscape supplier. Had the 5K on it to test run it before dropping in into the car. Anyway, started up first pop, after strip down & rebuild, but would not idle. Read up & discovered the purpose of the fuel solenoid; wired it up, and perfect idle. "putting in corner of memory" . . . . . . . If ever out on the road with major electical problem, and have to hot wire ignition to get car going, always remember to run a wire from Bat +ve to fuel solenoid. Quote
