lachiereeves Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Might be a stupid question to some but... What corollas have a 5k or 7k engine standard? I know how rare they are and thats why I wanna get my hands on one. Looking for a 7k preferably. There are a few 5k engines floating round on the FS section should I buy on one of them now for when I get a rolla in a while, or do they pop up all the time? Thanks -Lachie Quote
SLO-030 Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 5K's were in JDM KE70's and Assorted light commercial vans. As far as i know the 7K both in carburetted and injected formats only ever came in the KR42 townace van. Quote
7shades Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Liteace or Townace. Be aware, 7K into a Corolla is not a 'bolt in' job. Do a search and you will discover many threads on this topic. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 ^ :) 5k - KM36 liteace 7k - KR42 townace. Neither I would really consider rare!! Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 The JDM KE70 with the factory 5K was the KE74.... I have seen a few in the Brisbane area. Reason I keep an eye out for them is they all had K-T bell housing in them :) Cameron Quote

seabiscuit Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 If it's your first conversion go a 5k.. Simple as toast. A 7k requires slight modification to fit. Do a search for 7k and you'll find some project threads. Point your questions in that direction if you want to ask about it! Quote
lachiereeves Posted February 10, 2010 Author Report Posted February 10, 2010 7shades- I know it wouldn't be 'bolt in' job surely you'd have to modify a few things (haven't researched any of it). But I think it would be easier and a fair bit similar to a 3k or 4k (size wise). Surely it's easier than dropping a 4age in. Taz_Rx-Didn't know they weren't that rare cause only a few people (like yourself) have a 7k. I was kinda refering to how rare the engines are to get your hands on, easily get a townace or lightace but would be too expensive for just the motor, so I am looking for just the motor. Thanks for the info Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Well KR townaces aren't exacty rare. I think the main reason why there isn't many around in corollas would just be the price of them! Do a ring around of some commercial wreckers - Guys who wreck vans and trucks, but not neccessarally cars. You might have a lot more luck that way..... but still be prepared for a $1k+ price tag if you want say a complete 7ke with manifolds etc. Quote

Having seen a properly converted 7K just recently I can tell you its not any easier. It is pretty cool for the WTF factor but if you're looking for the best power for the least effort, 4AGE still kicks the 7Ks arse. Quote
