your better off replacing the diaphragm since you got the carby apart instead of put it on and having to pull if off again

They are about us$80 each after a quick look on ebay. Could probably get them a bit cheaper.

The carbies are actually quite easy to take apart. Just take the head cap off (4 bolts) and slide the diaphragm out.

Hehe! Woot! My boss has kindly donated some quad carbies from his old Kawasaki GPZ 750. Unfortunately they are a diaphragm carbie, but for free I can't go wrong.

He told me that they require a thorough cleaning cause they have been sitting around for a few years. i have taken off all of the float bowls and the diaphragms and all looks good.

One of the diaphragms have a pinhole in them which can be fixed with an epoxy but will require a close eye over the years because the epoxy will be eaten away over time by the petrol fumes.

They were working when they came off so I presume they will work when I put them on. Lots of things to do before I can do that though.

Going to finish of the twinky soon and then i will start on the 4k. Updates as they come including a tutorial on how to strip the carbies and give them a good clean.

Hopefully I don't encounter something bad :) .

G`day mate, they should work ok. Good score. Just a tip tho, repair the pin hole with a better quality super glue. I`ve done it a few times over the years and it works just fine. Just spread the pin hole a tiny bit and apply a drop. Job done. Good luck. Old Fella.

just a quick photo after fininshing my KP61 bike carb project.

i finially got it started yesterday and it runs soooo sweet. much better than it ever did in 40 dellortos idles at 900rpm with a wild cam and lightned fly. the throttle respose is amazing.

 

it runs a full fireblade fuel system-pump,earls braided lines, and MSD ignition.it sound amazing, videos to follow !

as for spacing. the two centre ports were spot on, the two outer ones were too far apart compared to the bike carbs. you can space bike carbs, buts its alot easier to make the manifold to suit.

 

no didnt need much tuning at all, just enlarged the main jets and away it went. i was puzzled for a while why it didnt start, but i remebered bike carbs have no accelerator jet, so pumping the pedal was doing nothing, you have to have the choke cable hooked up
