rjenman
3K may have had 73 flywheel hp when new Yeah well thats the thing, they're all old now, and I wasn't around in like 1972 to own a KE20 and know what a new 3K was like ... there are none these days Its like how a 5K out of a newer liteace will go a hell of a lot harder than one thats 20 years old. I mean, its impressive enough that some of these old shitters STILL RUN let alone punch out many horses.
Ke50
haha, u guys know i was all joking right? who would put a gen 3 into a ke50 unless you were building the ultimate burnout machine. leaf springs 13" wheels stripped interior, niiiice. btw my 3k from the ke50 is for sale, runs fine, doesnt blow smoke or anything. would just be the motor though as the gearbox is sold. Dan
yes, but are you taking into account that most cars lose 1/3 of there power (flywheel) through the driveline? Realistic figures- Gen III - 300kw (top of the range) =200kw =320rwhp 3k - 77hp or roughly 48kw (top of the range) = 40kw = 64rwhp so if you take that into account, a top of the range Gen III has 5x the power of a 3k... Tiger
I had to admit... when I first so the Gen 3 engine cover under the bonnet, my facial expression was :P WTF??? It did look cool :rocknroll: Until I saw 3K bits in between :rocknroll:
Hokey
73hp would be nowhere near what most 3k's make . most of the stock ones out there would proabably all be in dire need of a reco and have hardly any power :P
ancullen
Toyota seem to have a bad habit of overstating power figures for their engines, even to this day. Try dynoing a 4A-GE 20v and see what you get. From what I've heard even 160hp is pretty bloody optimistic.
