Setting 4k-c Points Gap

So is the part number in their catalogue wrong? Because the capacitor/condenser thay gave me is wrong too.

 

Man I wish I could open their catalogue on the web site. Ill give it another go.

 

And yeah I'll go electronic on the 5K (for some reason it has a points dizzy?).

 

Just need to make the 4K manageable until then.

Finally got the catalogue open. There are two part numbers

 

One for Bosch

And one for Bosch made for Nippondenso.

 

Bosch obviously make a replacement dizzy with different parts.

I don't think many 5k's had electronic dizzys but the 7k's definately did. When I got my 5k it came with points dizzy.

Pretty sure from memory the Bosch dizzys use GB534 points (same as most holdens). Can't remember the p/n for the Bosch condenser.

 

What dizzy do you have, Bosch or Nippondenso? Got a pic?

Must be nippondenso as the Bosch parts don't fit.

according to K-series repair manual its: rub block gap to be set at 0.45mm / dwell angle 52 +-6 deg

G`day Reed, these are what I found in an old Bosch 4K-C dizzy in the scrap heap. I`ve got some brand new ones somewhere but where is the problem. Cheers.

Yeah, that's the points set I need. I'll get them to replace the ones they gave me.

If you use bosch points get the GB 752 points, There heaps better than the GB 534

 

They were designed for the XU1 and fit a bosch 3k / 4k dissy.

 

They have a higher spring pressure so less chance of point bounce.

 

I like to set the points to the lower limit, in the case of 3k about 16 thou, This gives the coil a greater charge time.

Dang!... well now I am having the same problem!..

got dizzy cap, rotor and points - and they are all wrong!..

My dizzy is a lot bigger for some reason.

Does this mean its the nipon denso one? or the aftermarket Bosch one ?

and that said - what part numbers am i meant to be chasing down then??

ok... so found out I have the bosch dizzy. BO dizzy cap and rotor are bigger. all fitted now - but intermittent ignition problem still exists :bash:

try replacing the condenser.

 

 

yup, I've replaced the condenser thats attached to the dizzy.

although today I noticed one similar thats attached to the coil?

does anyone know if this is the same part?
