I had a similar issue with my tacho once, there is a little diode that is supposed to be soldered into the trigger line (usually green) that is like a one way valve for electricity, stops the jumping by only allowing the single pulse from the dizzy as opposed to copping the pulse it's supposed to be getting and a "feedback" pulse of sorts......

Have a chat with a friendly old auto electrician or auto parts store owner, he might let you crack open the pack on a brand new tacho to have a look at what diode you need, these diodes are readily available from Dick Smiths and Jay Car. *And cost SFA*

Good luck

jono I had a look at the diff but the only writing I saw was borg warner. Oh well

Getting the jumping sorted sounds like to much of a hassle. I'll just love it as it is.

It's been a mission putting the tacho in where the clock goes

Seriously, it's a 5 minute fix.....

And as I suggested before opening up your points a tad more will probably stop the jumping too....... which funnily enough would also only take 5 minutes.

Was the "Borg warner" on a little metal tag as jono pictured? If not double check the tag.

That was the borg warner thing I saw. There didn't seem to be a plate or anything where you circled, it's just flat metal.

I'll look at the points tomorrow. I just had a massive pain getting the tacho in and it ended up not looking so good. I need to just enjoy driving the car for a bit so I don't feel like kamikazing it off a cliff. I'm sure we all know the feeling.
