Medicine_Man
No, not in a KE70, I thought you were asking what other types of steering there was other than rack and pinion..

irokin
100kw 4AGE or 150kw 3SGE (altezza, titanium valves, 11.5:1 compression ratio STOCK) you decide
demuire
Did they? Hmm, well maybe I'm wrong then. I always thought the early KE70's came with steering box...
Ruts
ok this is prolly the dumbest question asked on here - but here goes ... If I upgrade to anything above and beyond my 4AC, am I looking at RWD only ??? And if thats the case is it best to go for discs on the back as well ?? demuire
Ruts: I so don't understand what you are asking... Nick: small port 4AGE doesn't have TVIS.
Ruts
errrr let me rephrase ... " sifcgidsg kcisdc" <<-- teddy can translate. I guess I am asking am I limited to upgrading to a rwd configuration if I change my motor - the 4AC in there now is east/west - but every time I see a 4AGE configuration it is north/south or can I park that baby sideways too and stick to my current front wheel drive config?? Medicine_Man
Nick: small port 4AGE doesn't have TVIS. I think nick was refering to when you swipe the Intake manifold / head from an 88kw 4AGE and use the 100kw bottom end

I doubt you could change yours to RWD to easily, must easier just leaving it FWD, I would assume you could just use the front end / engine of an AE82 Seca Twincam? Ruts
mmmm good plan - now to scout for a seca front end - might have t push one off the road :D
irokin
Ruts: Get a 4A-GZE front cut. It is most certainly an achieveable conversion
demuire
Ruts: You will find that most 4AGE setups are east-west. There were very few RWD cars that came with the 4AGE (mostly AE86 etc), not counting the MR2 because the MR2 has basically got a FWD setup, but behind the driver instead. This is what a friend of mine is doing with his DIY sports car, with a silvertop 4AGE. Contrary to popular belief, drum brakes aren't weaker than disc brakes. In fact, in some cases (and I stress the "some" because disc brake technology has come a LONG way) drum brakes offer greater stopping power than discs. The main problem with drum brakes is the heat and gas, as they cannot dissipate heat anywhere near as quickly as discs, and tend to develop envelopes of gas around the shoes, making braking rather ineffective. At the end of the day, it is up to you what you would like to do, and what your engineer sees as appropriate. I have seen cars with ridiculously powerful engines and tiny stock brakes, in my eyes I see them as moving coffins. But that is just me, and obviously some other people see differently. At the end of the day, it is up to you.
