Trev Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 He was not writing in leet or text speech, It occurred to me that he obviously had a problem. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 One more thing, It is obvious that his spelling was not a major problem as he got the help he needed didn't he. 2 tech mods in the one thread giving someone a hard time over spelling does not give good presentation. Philbey doesn't have any posts in here so I'll take it this was directed at me!? I've made 2x replies: 1 to help him, I even searched youtube to find him some vids. 2nd was to advise him of the standards we would like to uphold here at rollaclub. Let face it, NOBODY reads the forums rules when they sign up. So newbie posters need to know whats acceptable and whats not, and if it take an admin/mod/tech mod/or general user to tell them so what the issue? I really don't think we ask to much! If you want help from another person/RC user make your question legibale. Quote
Trev Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 The school system of Australia is a funny thing, usually learning requires some effort on the part of the student as much as it does the teacher.... I guess you were/are one of the "cool kids" who smoked behind the gym and sat at the back of class mouthing off and firing spitwads out of Bic pens as a display of your immense intelligence? Here's an idea, try using Firefox, it has this handy little inbuilt spellchecker that can attempt to convert your garbled text garbage language into something resembling English, like maybe German, Finnish or (God help us all) "American" In short, harden up, play by the forum rules that you agreed to when you signed up, and just remember, this is the Internet, flames will happen. Have you noticed a decline in use from the regular members that used to be on here. I just don't think it is right to flame someone because they can't spell, would it be the same if he could spell? he would still have the same car knowledge wouldn't he. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 IMHO Trev all it boils down to is curtosy. Tech questions are asking people for help. I really don't think its unreasonable to expect a certain level curtosy to get this help. Do you? Yes I have noticed that some members aren't on here us much lately. Some of this may be due to what you seem to think are over-inforced forums rules. But at the end of the day people move on. Corollas are most commonly a "first/cheap car", so as the L/P platers grow up and get silvias, skylines, supras etc they move away from rollaclub. Ofcourse there will always be a few members who stick around like ourselves. Quote

Taz you have just displayed how easy it is to make spelling mistakes, It is spelt courtesy which being a TECHNICAL advisor you should have proper grammar from what people are saying in this thread. I don't want this to turn into a mod vs Trev bitch session as all I wanted was people to take a step back and realise that some people do have a legitimate spelling problem. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 :laff: Everyone is human, and if you have a look at my previous posts I haven't said anything specifically about spelling, my gripe is the text speak. Yes some people do have legitimate spelling problems, I work with a dislexic guy. But a lot of the time some people are just too lazy to take the time to write properly. Mod Vs Trev :blinks: Healthy discussion :blinks: ;) Quote

hectic20s Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Corollas are most commonly a "first/cheap car", so as the L/P platers grow up and get silvias, skylines, supras etc Thast not true iv allwase wanted a ke70 just never foud one at the right time when i was looking for a car and iv had like 15+ cars b4 this one most of them v8 and turbo and i prefer a toyota as thay last long and don't have problems with them all the time like silvias, skylines like my ols R32 gtr was runing overrated for 1mth after i got it then i hed to sped 5g on it and then it got stolen from the workshop :laff: ;) how often do you here of a rolla get stolen! Taz_Rx Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 haha thats because most corollas don't entice theives like say a skyline does. I did also say "most commonly". Ofcourse there are guys like ourselves out there who keep there rolla or buy one because they actually want a Toyota/Corolla. Quote
doots Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 this thread contains so much lol. as for natural selection most mechanics arent amazingly bright which is why they work on car [in the hopes they fall on them] as for spelling, I'm a high school drop out and although there are grammatical errors in my post its really not that hard to do. ae86dc is the place for that crap and believe me there's been flaming wars there for the same thing. but in relation to the actual thread for those who would genuinely like to know how to do this: as per the shithouse pictures undo the bolts and take the plates off both sides. also undo the rear diff plate. slide hammer the axels out. slide hammers are like 80 bucks or if your pov theres sliding tools for like 40 bucks. undo the bolts and take the diff out. presto and 4 pages was not needed. if any1 would like to add the torque setting needed to bolt the diff centre back in please add to this as i am in need of this. and id like to finish with HOORAY FOR BOOBS. thank you Quote
