az93rnova Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Here it is my 92 holden nova GS with the unusual 7afe 1.8 engine. i bought it about 8 or 9 months ago of my workshop controller who used to work at a toyota dealership, who told me that the car had been in his familly since it had 50000 kms on it(it now has 287000km) and i reckon with new valve stem seals the engine could do an other 200000km no problems. the rear window is coming off at the bottom, which is annoying as i have to drain thye water out of the boot every time it rains :glare: . The clutch i was told has never been replaced ever! :o and still feels great, which i think is pretty impressive :y: the paint on the roof is fading and could do with a respray but i'm not too worried about that yet,the bonnet was resprayed when i first got the car, and there is one rust spot on the rhr guard which i get fixed in the near future, the rest of the car is 99% rust free. my plan is to make this car into a quick daily that can handle corners, i am not too sure which engine to go with yet as i want the car to still be confortable to drive as a daily. az93rnova Posted November 4, 2010 Author Report Posted November 4, 2010 Weird, I thought only the seca's had the 7A. i'm pretty sure in toyota's they do only come out in the seca RV and the later models, but yea i didn't know nova's came with 7a's until i got this one. Quote

In the AE9x Corolla the 7A only came out in the RV, the Nova had the 7A in the GS hatch (as there wasn't a Seca version of the Nova) from '92 until '94 (basically the same time that the RVs got the 7A as well I believe) thanks i'll have a look i didnt know the early mr2's were fwd They're not, they just have a FWD-style (ie east-west) engine mid-mounted driving the rear wheels. All MR2s are like this. Quote
az93rnova Posted November 9, 2010 Author Report Posted November 9, 2010 (edited) o ok yea it makes sence. on the weekend i decided to give the nova a wash and a bit of a polish it comes up ok except for the faded roof ond the paint that is peeling of the front and rear bumpers. the door moulds have a chrome strip on them the chrome is faded and worn so i decided to make my own stripes with red race tape, it looks quite good too! oh and i removed the holden badge from the front but it looks a little empty now :hmm: Edited November 9, 2010 by az93rnova Quote
JJT036 Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 You could leave the 7A in there and slap on the GZE Stuff to make a 7A-GZE. :jamie:. The 4A-GZEs have Top-Mount Intercoolers. And the Old MR2s were RWD but were Mid-Engined. Looks pretty cool. Corolla badges are a Must! Josh  Quote

Josh  yea i actually thought of that (7AGZE),i been trying to fix all the smaller things before i start working with the engine, and trying to save up too, i might do the wreckers and look for corolla badges on monday, does anyone know if any corolla's come with the same shape grill/ headlights and park lights as the nova's or is it just a holden thing? No, the Nova has different headlights etc to the Australian-delivered Corolla - fairly sure the JDM FXGT lights fit though, but they're much much rarer. Better off just trying to find Nova ones.
