rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Hey, I'm getting another ke10.. i currently own a rotor ke11 but i want to build more of a daily ke10.. just wondering some peoples opinions of getting some decent hp from a k? and what model K would be best suited.. i don't know if i should supercharge or turbo and just run low boost or maybe a tough little motor.. is gonna be on a low budget and doesnt need to be a race car, just a bit of fun.. cheers. Jono.C Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I know it's not a K motor. But, what could be an option is what i did. I got a 3tc and box and everything for $100 off a mate and put it in a ke70 for under $150. It went really hard and was suprisingly good on fuel. So imagine what that would do in a ke10  Quote
rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 trying to keep this one a little more legal.. wonder how hard it is to build a decent na k motor.. wonder if a 4k with 3k head and cam and carbs or something.. i dunno :P spose i should actually pick up the car before i get too excited.. Evan G Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 go 5k ftw! decent cam and little bit of head work would make it fun to drive :D Quote
coln72 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 ^^^^^^ second that - similar set up to my old KE20 and that was lotsa fun Quote
rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 would 5k with 4k/3k head raise comp? i also got a single solex from a 2tg here wonder if thatl work.. i just remember the last Ke10 i had when it was standard it was poo.. and i can't do that again. Quote
Evan G Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 5k block with a 3/4k head will lower the compression. don't worrie about swapping heads just shave the 5k one to a suitable compression ratio Quote
rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 lower? ;) enough to turb or supercharge??? Quote
Evan G Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 taz_rx is running a 5k with a 3kbp head with some stupid stupid amount of boost. its a daily got get too carried away Quote
rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 yeah, i got a wrx as a daily too.. but i prefer ke10's so ill sit the rexy in shed and drive ke :) Quote
Evan G Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 ahahhaha still got the ke10 with the boat motor? Quote
rke_011 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Report Posted November 29, 2010 yeah, still got the boat motored rolla.. its registered at the moment... but never driver it.. don't wanna get pulled over. so i gots to build a fun daily ke10 coz i want something i can drive.. Quote
GJM85 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 A K motor is a beginners motor. Keep it simple. Mixing motors leads to arse pain unless you know what your doing. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 5k + 3/4k head + mild cam + draw-through supercharger OR simple j-pipe blow-through turbo setup. Actually, pull that turbo off your WRX and fit it up to a 5k. I used to run a TD04-L and it was sooo perfectly suited, bugger allo lag but still really good top end. In a KE10 you'll lunch any bogan in his commonwhore, hell you'll give mildish VLT's a run for their money!!! :jamie: Quote

My rexy has a td05 so maybe a bit big. out of curiosity with a dodgy turbo setup blow through with a dodgy j pipe does it actually make a decent power increase? I'm thinking cheap turbo setup would be cheaper than s/c.. so ill probably go 5k turbo just for a bit of a laugh... depends what bits i have laying around at the time or what bits i can find stupidly cheap..
