Need More Power Out Of My 4K Engine

Featured Replies

hey guys i have a ke70 and i wanna slide it

i want more power out of my 4k untill i save for my 4age convertion

How can i make my 4k slide without welding my diff ??

Can anybody help me ???

Get heaps of oil put on floor and slide?

Serious save your Cash for a 4age....If you gona build a 4k, the car will never be fast and be able to hold massive slids. if you build a proper 4k it will be quick, theres a deference.....

Start here if your serious..

nah bro i swear if you wanna slide, cut your brake lines and bend them so there facing the wheels. pump the brake then stomp on the gas.

"watch this bro"

Windscreen washers squirting detergent onto the rear wheels! :laff:

Forget the 4K! They didn't do drifting in 1960 when they designed it. Side cam with pushrods, non-crossflow, two valves per cylinder, pathetic 40odd BHP... everything is against it.

You can get it up to 50something bhp, maybe 60-odd, and its fun to drive, especially in the wet, but there's no way in hell you will go drifting on dry tarmac without everyone laughing at you. Look up the Tasmanian drift KE70, an excellent job with a 1UZ v8 in it. The 4AGs will do OK, look at this-

That's a bigger motor, twin overhead cam, 4valves/cyl, crossflow head... you get the drift...

If you're really keen, put up $4000 minimum but really $6k, and go for it.. 40DCOE Webers, forged bottom end, massive head job, exhaust, fancy oil pump & ignition and you'll get at least a blown gearbox, maybe diff as well... :laff:

Best way is to upgrade to the 5kc ;) basically the 4k's bigger brother in 1.5L form.

Or if you have your heart set on the 4k the get a decent carb on it, weber of some sort and a cam.

Drifting 4k's isn't easy without a weldy or some sort of liquid :P

Get some stiff springs up the back and a good clutch and a drift button for the handbrake. ( holds the button in so you can rip the handbrake easy)

With a fair bit of scando-ing, some clutch and handbrake you might JUST get silly :P

Wait until it rains.

While you're doing that, save your arse off for the 4AGE :)

surely 3tc is a easier, cheaper option for a ke70..

you don't have to convert to efi or do a rwd swap on the engine.

similar output (70kw 3tc - 88kw 4ag)

you'd get it done for $600~

you'd get it done for $600~

I wish! But seriously I don't think you could do it that cheap, unless you knew peeps who knew the right peeps

similar output (70kw 3tc - 88kw 4ag)

Well, true its about twice what a 4K puts out, but that jump from 70KW to 90 is still a lot. I suppose being stuck with 2valves per cylinder is most of that, you don't get screaming power without twincams it seems.

I think if I fitted a 3T I'd want a cam in it and then twin sidies and an exhaust and a head job and damm I've spent all my money...

I wish! But seriously I don't think you could do it that cheap, unless you knew peeps who knew the right peeps

luckily i do ;) $150 for engine, box, mounts, tailshaft and all to suit ke20.

i love my luck :) haha

3T's are getting old though, there's probably more chance it is stuffed than a 4AG and if you ever do have to rebuild it you're going to have a harder time finding parts.

ehh. i just don't like 4age's. They just don't appeal to me. been working on a 3tgte with a ct26 for a t18 my mate owns. that appeals to me ;)
