Does anyone know if its legal in QLD to put a N/A 12A in a KE20 coupe? Please!

It is allowed in NSW check the RTA for the calculator and the NSW laws state that they are "Guidlines" which means you just have to find an engineer to sign off on it.

 

However, to engineer it in QLD I believe that it is possible, maybe instead of asking for everybodies opinion, get the facts from you local authority

authorities don't give you a staight answer thats why i was asking to see if anyone has done it and maybe if they had they could help me with some info

the only opinion that matters is the guy that is going to sign off you car.

 

because that is what the police and insurance company will look at.

 

unfortunately you are correct in that even from the authorities you can get 10 different answers for the same question.

do not bother with calling queensland transport, most of the operators have no idea on the specifics of engine conversions. Utterly pointless.

12a is capacitly x2 =2.4litres

 

rule is weight of car x3 = allowed capacity

 

you then need the "official weight" of a ke20, as listed in the qld modifications handbook. (ask engineer)

 

from memory it was approx 800kg, which would scrape through, but find an engineer and ring them.

Yes, rotary engine displacement is multiplied by 2. BUT. NA and forced induction ratios for car kerb weight and cubic capacity is different. Naturally aspirated motors (in QLD) is kerb weight multiplied by 3, and forced induction (turbo/supercharged) is 2.5 times the kerb weight in cubic centimeteres. Your best bet if you are not sure is to ring up an engineer who has the books and paperwork shit to make it all legal and legit, and ask him if and can it be done.
