Sooooo....

removed the heart of the beast tonight, very happy with my rad/cooler/light/grill support, a total of 10 m8 bolts and 4 m6 bolts makes the the entire front of the car disapear, intercooler comes out with both pipes attached as one piece, as does the radiator, inclusive of removing the support and discoonecting everything i had the engine out in alf an hour riding solo, clappity clap.

will hopefully get away with just a rebore and some new slugs, not 100% sure if i should swap over to a set of the beefy biport rods or not.. fairly confident the smallport rods will hold on low boost (20-25psi)

clutch is still good! now i did only drive it for a week but the extreme pressure plate/excedy center has held very well, the pressure plate has been up rated a little but i did expect it to slip a fair bit.. the things you can get away with eh?

anyways, its out, time to rip her apart to see if the bigends copped any slight abuse

If it was easy enough for me to rock a blacktop i would, as it is i have faith in the bigport.. haters will hate.

No real idea whats happened still, cracks havent been testes yet, there is definitely some kind of distortion in the cylinder wall but need to mag test or dyepen it to be 100% certain the block is finished. What is interesting is the pistons are only chewed out on the sides , the tops are spotless which starts to point me away from detonation, its just a headʞ©$ɟ really i have no idea what to put it down to.

To all the guys replying/discussing shit via text, thanks a million, you know who you are.. it really does help with other eyes looking over the situation.

Bigport FTW!! 20v turbos are cheats way out.

Nah dude detonation is exactlly what caused that! Detonation/abnormal combustion effects different engines in different ways. You'll also find the skirts of the pistons have collapsed too.

I see this type of thing on a daily basis.

Never pinged as such, no rattles ect.. I think its more so pre-ignition, from running excessively retarded timing at high rpm on boost.. Just too hot.

The cause would be from having the wrong trigger edge selected in the haltech software back when I had this in a seca controlled by a sprint500

Make mistakes, learn from them, do it bigger and better next time.

Hopefully have this slapped together sometime soon the machinist needed his turbo shaft balancers electrical shiz swapped n upgraded so hopefully that will spare me any costs associated with the bottom end work :) everything is still perfect except for the bores so far so fingers crossed ;)
