anybody heard anything about this? apparently it will be illegal to do engine conversions as of the 28th of september???

Says who?

Have you got a link?

Yeah- school holidays again.

5minutes on the RTA website would show that there is nothing announced, and they wouldn't be this close to 28th Sept without a lot of public comment.

Have also heard that this was introduced here in July where you cannot raise the number of cylinders a vehicle has unless it was a factory option.

Well i think that's a bit silly. You could buy an executive commolord but wouldnt be able to put a V8 in it yet you could buy an SS which is essentially the same car with a V8, bigger brakes and diff. No changes to vehicle weight or handling characteristics.

Umm what do you think 'unless it was a factory option' means?

I can't go put a v6 into my 720 ute but I can put an SR20 in it, the old guy with the HQ down the road can pull the sagged 6 banger out and put in a v8 if he likes.

I have not seen this in writing but it came to us while we were doing a rwc on an S13 with an RB20 installed in it, the owner was saying that it should sell ok since you can't do an RB conversion in them anymore because of this so my dad inquired to an engineer about this for his torana and was told it is fine as it is a factory optioned v8.

You're looking too small.

If a VS Commodore came out with a 6 or 8, you can fit that to any given VS, be it Exec, S or the Limited Edition Banana model.

The engine needs to have been fitted to the series car.
