WWWAAAAYYYY better material to start with and they are the same diameter all the down the stud.

Also the fact that they are a stud you are applying a force to the thread in the block but to the stud itself.

So these are amazing quality bolts, which take force not only on the thread but on the stud, wow.

Ive been told the 4age long bolt in arp match the K series ones

but you need 2 sets. Usually ARP can be contacted and they will

supply then all the same length but don't know the price or sizes.

i import sets for 4k but its only worth it with a group buy

Also the fact that they are a stud you are applying a force to the thread in the block but to the stud itself.

 

The force or tension in the bolt/stud etc is the same throughout the bolt/stud, and is also the same force that the thread must withstand. since its all joined together.

 

i think bolt stretch is the big thing with ARP head bolts,

 

there is some good information on their website, fairly vague. but gives you a good idea.

Yep that's right. Pretty sure part numbers I have are for 4age long studs. I got a price through my wholesale supplier at $260. Which is a lot dearer than Mitch-12's and boostedk's group buy prices.

 

Is this for a boosted or big compression "K"? If not it's not a real necessity for them.

Under a liteace or townace it seems the extra heat can cause issues with the

headgasket more than rollas, not to mention soften heads. Re-tightening H/bolts

every 10,000klms helps but I always think arp head bolts are a good investment

if you are keeping the engine for its life.

For my low km 5k liteace I'm getting a twin port ex manifold and outlets coated

by HPC to help with lowering the temps but might need ARP headbolts also.

Also are you using genuine Toyota head gaskets? From memory are around $50. Do you have a measurement of the head top to bottom(mine has been savagely milled)

Reason I ask is that(and Mitch can you confirm this) with my milled 5k head I'd have to use 2 washers as the studs are a bit longer than the factory bolt.

If you have ever fitted them then you would know what I mean.

 

When installing head bolts you are applying a twisting as well as an upwards motion to the thread, this can damage the threads (like trying to put a bolt into an exhaust on an aluminum head instead of a stud), by installing a stud the breaking force is applied to the stud which is why they are screwed in finger tight.

In your case I'd probably use them myself.

HPC will help in your situation a heap too!!!

yeah with any 5k head you need 2 washers and you could use 2 with 4k also but it seems to just make it with 1 washer
