G'day guys and girls.

I haven't been on lately as I've been trying to

get the cars finished for christmas.

I've finally sorted the smoking problem with

the Mercedes and cured the auto problem at

the same time.

It seems the vacuum modulator on the auto

was stuffed and was sucking the trans fluid

straight up into the manifold. Now thats fixed

it gets new injectors and hopefully i will have

220KW of power again.

Craigs Rolla now has a bright chrome engine bay

fire engine red extractors,blue under car neons,

blue chercker plate instument panel,blue neons

in the instument panel and blue washer neons that

flash with the indicators.

The 7k block and crank are back from the engineers,

so its about to be painted and the bottom end

assembled. The heads weren't ready yet.

Hope to get them early in the week, if so it may

just be ready for the Bar-b que

This 7K corolla thing is an interesting idea, I've been pondering doing one instead of the 5K

 

They're quite a hefty K engine

Yeah! We're hoping for 130hp plus

and around 150ft/lb of torque.

did you just paint the engine bay with cans? let us know how that goes, after say a few months or whatever, as far as paint quality and finish goes. i've heard conflicting stories about engine bays not sprayed with a gun, but have never bothered to try it myself

Yeah! I just cleaned it as best I could

washed it with prepsol and used cans.

Anything was better than how it looked.

I'm not holding my breath on it lasting.

 

After I took the pic of inst panel I put

a rubber edging around it. A blue led

in a chrome holder for hi beam and 2

yellow led's for indicators. 5 blue lit

rocker switches where the radio had

been for the neons in and under the

car. I will try to get a pic during the

week.

What brand/kind of paint did you use?

I need to see these undercar neons at night. Thats one form of Automotive lighting that I actually like.

I'm gonna have my extractors covered in heatproof seramic coatings, so they stay silver all their life, instead of grotty black and brown colour :cool:

actually i think you're wrong man

 

There's the high temp resistant engine paint that you use on blocks, thats good, but not good enough for the blistering heat of an exhaust. There is ALSO a kind of paint DESIGNED for pot belly stoves and exhausts that resists 500 degrees celcius plus. I have only seen it in grey and black though.

 

I don't remember seeing it in any interesting colours, thats why I'm interested to know if he's used the uber heat resistant stuff that comes in bright red!

 

my current idea is to have black exhaust and blue block to suit my car
