Biggo Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Bah! Just chuck the soob flat four in  Saves you the hassel of selling and buying the same motor in a hlaf cut :y: Quote
B-B-Benne Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Posted April 11, 2006 (edited) update as of 11/04/06 yesterday the devil tempted me with a cheap TE gemini...and i said no......on the weekend i saw something that made my hairy head stand on end...i saw a turbocharged 3rz-fe in a hilux. and then i saw what it did to the rear tyres. poor lil rubber things. they didn't deserve that. for those who don't know, a 3rz-fe is a standard '99 hilux petrol motor, a 2.7L (2936cc) four cylinder with a scissor gear twin cam arrangement (like so many toyota engines) its bore and stroke makes it a square engine (like the thundering 2jz) at 95mm each...this guy had stock cams, a hybrid nissan turbo and a wicked inlet manifold...it really got me thinking. even without a turbo (to start with), getting one of these puppies into a KE70 bay would NOT be difficult..the firewall can stay (at least for the timebeing), the stock box can be used...the engine is torquey and doesn't rev...but it doesn't need to, it's a 2.7 four cylinder!!!! so there it is, gentlemen. i'm thinking i'll save the 1UZ (with twins) idea for a high speed spec car (highway work) rather than a drifter...but i'd love to hear what everyone thinks of this. gentlemen! start your flames! btw rollaclub, a workshop specialising in early compact RWD cars is in the pipeline...feedback? Biggo Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 *owner and driver of a 3rz here* Yea, its amazing what money does to an otherwise shitty motor :) Just kidding, 3rz's in stock form do an alright job of pulling a 2750kg car along, hell it even spins the back wheels a lil rond the roundy things the council loves around here. Just don't evpext it tho have much of a top end without some heavy modding to the ports (they are poo but least toyota got the right idea). oh and you have been reading too much Zoom.... i pity that 180 Mr. T style :D Quote

B-B-Benne Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 i rolled the stoopid liberty two days ago. back to the drawing board... Quote
Raven Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Should've grabbed the engine and trans from the liberty and slapped it in. Someone on here mentioned that as an engine transplant, so why don't you do it? Quote
Clown Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 myself and gearbox were discussing it one night, we came up with the conclusion that we could do it, just a gearbox would be the issue. Quote
