Super Jamie Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 we can just agree to disagree then  Quote
gtnickk Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 Well fellas thanks for all the feedback as to where i should go for carbies. I just come to the conclusion though if i want to make a tough K Engine I'm going to have to spend lots of money, this does not bother me though. I suppose my next question well be what carbs are going to produce the most power for the little 4K ,Twin 1.75 SU's or Twin webber sidedraughts. (I am leaning towards the SU's because there a liitle different to twin side draughts) :D Quote
gtnickk Posted January 3, 2006 Author Report Posted January 3, 2006 Thats what i was saying to myself the sound of twin side draughts Just makes you want to spend 2 grand on carbies Although custom EFI something like this (supercharged). Picture of rollaboy new preoject ke30 thats a nice car. :D Quote
gtnickk Posted January 4, 2006 Author Report Posted January 4, 2006 Nick I like the sound of the 5ke with Turbo but thats for anougher project in the lines of a smick ke30. Well i still havent made my mind up but it is a toss up between Su's or twin Side draughts. I still need more Info. :D Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 The supercharger is not staying on that car. Although it is fun. Eventually, once the SC gets back on the 5K, I will be getting custom EFI done, and probably run a Megasquirt ECU...nice and cheap. But in all honesty, this carby is almost as good as EFI, The KE30 is actually cheaper to drive now, than without the SC...this is mostly due to my driving style, and without the SC I had to flog the 4K to death to get it moving, now I hardly have to rev it. But this carby provides PLENTY of fuel when need be, like 30 litres in 90 clicks on the 5K...and I have a carter fuel pump on my car atm, it was too high psi for this carby, so I have a malpasi fuel pressure reg too. These carbies were actually gravity fed on some BMW motorcycles way back in the day, that's how little fuel pressure they need. (before you ask, I can't use the mechanical fuel pump, as the SC bolts on too close to the block to fit it) Quote
gtnickk Posted January 5, 2006 Author Report Posted January 5, 2006 Well i still think your two Rolla's are tuff and i wouldnt mind doing something like that. Keep up the mad work though with your Ke30 love it so tuff. :) Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Yeah i have twin 1 1/2 inch SU's and i have never hit more than 8 grand. Also i must have scored the bargain of the century when i got two hand polished dellortos on a k motor manifold for 500 bucks with all linkages. Quote

You don't wont to sell those dellortos on the k manifold do you with all the linkages. Edited January 6, 2006 by gtnickk Quote
Teddy Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Also i must have scored the bargain of the century when i got two hand polished dellortos on a k motor manifold for 500 bucks with all linkages. Close, but... i got a set for $450 - for some beer, they put em on to :) Quote
gtnickk Posted January 7, 2006 Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 Damm i wished i lived near you all the queensland members seem to get mad rolla parts dirt cheap. :rocknroll: Quote
gtnickk Posted January 8, 2006 Author Report Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) Quick question, Were any 5ke made? or were the just the 4ke and 7ke made. Because if 4ke were made and if 5ke were not made then if i was to make a 5ke i would have to use a 4ke efi system is this correct or am i just dumb and making this sound harder than it is. Also were abouts do i go finding these parts, because if i have to import them, it would be almost as cheap to buy the whole engine ready to go. Edited January 9, 2006 by gtnickk Quote
gtnickk Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 Thanks Nick :rocknroll: i just don't understand why toyota would not have made a 5ke. I would assume then from what i have been told that 4ke efi system should bolt on to the 5k as a direct bolt on or with little modification. Having said that i now have to locate one and see. Has any one done this before. :P Quote
gtnickk Posted January 10, 2006 Author Report Posted January 10, 2006 Nick thanks i read in the link you gave me that the 4ke are good for about 90hp which i don't think is verygood for a 5ke. Now my next question is putting a 7ke efi system on a 5k jugding from those pictures, this would need modding to fit nothing a pro can't do. It looks like a better design and can handle more HP.:harhar: The search begins. Quote
Raoul Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 What about the twin Aisin Carbs & stock manifold? I saw a 4K on trademe.co.nz for $300 compl with twin carbs & manifold. Good for power ? This seems like a deal in comparison to other carb prices Ive seen. Also saw some 4K extractors for $50, is it worth buying new ones or just tidy up some old ones? Quote
gtnickk Posted January 11, 2006 Author Report Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) From what i have heard, that if you buy secondhand extractors you run the risk of losing youre money quickly and easily, to buy a good set anyway you normally have to spend in upwards of $150 unless you get a steal. There are only 2 types of extractors that i would recommend and I'm sure other rollaclub members would agree, genie or pacemakers. now I'm not sure if you can get them but if you can snap them up. In answering your question about twin asians two my knowledge they were only on kb10 i think and that was earily 70's i think if you wont to make power than i would not go down this route from what iv have been told. There are only really 3 options for carbies unless you really like modding manifolds etc: Somesort of webber downdraught. ie 32-36 webber. Twin SU's like on kangaroosa's car, or Twin side draughts. ie Webber 40mm DOCE. Edited January 14, 2006 by gtnickk Quote
