It's_AUDM_Yo Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Ok so I get RA65 struts/ Brakes for my KE70 and one the Brake Seals has a couple of holes and I was just wondering where I could get them from? I tried Supershit and they can't get them. Would Toyota still make them? Cheers Quote
ke70dave Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 what brake seal we talkin about here? Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 Oh how could I forget that, just the one that goes around the piston in front calipers. Quote
ke70dave Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 around the piston? still not sure what you mean. o-rings? if the calipers are leaking fluid between the bore and the piston, then your best bet is to get both calipers overhauled. you might have rusty bores. your thingo sais brisbane, http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/wynnum/master-cylinder-exchange-service-wynnum-13926220-listing.html this company i have had many calipers and masteryclinders fixed. they do a fine job. you might even be able to buy the caliper rebuild kit and DIY it. i have always got them to properly overhaul things, stainless steel inserts etc. 1 Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) I guess its sort of a O-ring. Looks like this (not my actual ones) Are overhauls expensive? These brakes seem to be in quite good condition but an overhaul could be nice. Edited April 23, 2012 by It's_AUDM_Yo Quote
rian Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 ^Aren't they just the dust boot? Last quote I got to overhaul calipers was around $130-$140 per caliper and that was with the stainless insert. Quote
ke70dave Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 yeah cost me 200bucks to get 2 calipers done maybe 1.5yrs ago. come out lookin brand new though, sand blasted, painted, stainless insert and piston, new seals everywhere. best bet is to land the caliper on their desk and ask them what they recommend. I don't recognise the part in the photo, if it is just a dust boot, that could be cheap to buy from them. 1 Quote
It's_AUDM_Yo Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) Oh so its just a dust boot so its really not that important if it has a couple of little holes? I think I might take it to them to get a once over anyway. Edited April 23, 2012 by It's_AUDM_Yo Quote
19914afc Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 If they are only small holes and you are sure it looks similar to that I would leave it myself if you know that they work fine, otherwise if they are unknown condition it would be very wise to get them recoed while they are not in a car. Do it right and only do it once. Quote
