September 2, 201214 yr comment_624709 To be honest i reckon having a cage in a daily driver would be a lot worse than having it lower and stiffer, makes the car a bit useless for daily duties, plus at a guess you'd get more cop attention Well, you don't need a full FIA bramble-bush in there, just an open rear cage with no diagonal to hold the roof up in case you tip it over. Use small thickwall tube say 33mm OD and 4.5mm wall thickness, and if you tuck it right up against the roof its not noticeable. We welded extensions on the tube at the joins and bolted it in. Really, the rust is no big deal until have an accident. The car just folds up around you then... Report
September 2, 201214 yr comment_624717 By the time you've got the materials and put it in you might as well hunt down a cleaner shell. I think perhaps you turn the car into a two seater with a cage as well (legally? that could be wrong). Report

September 5, 201214 yr comment_625154 In all my time of owning 82's I have never seen rust in the roof on one. Ours had a fair bit in the driver's side rain channel, both repaired and re-occuring... Report

September 5, 201214 yr comment_625253 Rust doesn't matter for rwc in qld unless it's structural or an obvious danger, i.e hole in the floor or it would slice someone open if you hit them. Report

September 9, 201214 yr Author comment_625833 Me and Amber took a trip to U-pull-it today. We went to get a battery bracket for the BLAT because the battery was held in with cable ties... We ended up grabbing a digital clock and a tacho out of another Seca that was there, She installed them by herself =P I'm very proud of her. No more shitty analog clock and lack of tacho. She did good =P It's nice knowing where the redline is now too. Report
