Hey guys I was going to sell my 7k ke35 and buy an ae86 for various reasons but now I've decided that I love my car and nothing is taking it away from me now :)

But

I need to do some improvements to make my car more comfortable because I drive it from sydney to Wollongong and back every day of the week and I have such issues as

 

Noises

Vibrations through the whole car

I want to get new shocks back and front also reset leaf springs to be Inch lower and same to front springs

Breaks are good

 

I just want to know if some little improvement to do because now I have a bit of cash I saved up to build the sprinter...

But yeah any help would be good. I'm up for any mod or improvement at the moment :) suggest for me please :)

How is your seats?

 

nothing made the biggest difference to my ke70 than a recaro bucket seat.

 

Comfort levels went up 10 fold.

Yes I have the stock seats there comfy in a way but uncomfortable as well..

So you think some good seats would do well ? How does that go with approval and stuff ? Are most of them road legal?

Make sure you get ADR approved seats. I'm not sure with KE3*'s but Autotecnica seats bolt in without mods to the rails in KE70s. Unsure if the bolt spacing is the same.

 

A full bush kit would work wonders on you suspension, along with good shocks.

Front end overhaul, tie rods, rack end, bearings, wheel alignment and balance to tighten up the steering.

Well a year ago when I redid the car all the front suspension tie rods inners and otters everything was new... I haven't touched the rear and I think that's where a bit of bumping noises and and raddled are coming from.. How do I go about rear shocks ?? And busher kit for rear ? The rear leafs have new bushels I put them in about a year ago I have no idea about the shocks :/

Rear shock change is about an hours work for back yard mechanic. Just remove the back seat to access the top of them.

Lovely KE35 you have there. I just love that model, & yours looks a picture. Your comment makes me think you have a problem other than just suspension & shocks. Have you checked the universal joints ? To check whether a constant vibration is in the drive line or a wheel / suspension problem, through the car, throw the gearbox into neutral when going down a hill, when there is no one in front or behind you. If the vibration is less, then the problem could well be in the drive line. (diff, tailshaft or gearbox.) If the vibration doesn't change, then it probably is wheels or suspension. Check the rear gearbox rubber mount. They are known to shear, if they are very olde, and have had a lot of oil on them. Even check front enging mounts, particularly the one under the exhaust manifold, which are known to crack & get brittle, as I'm not sure whether the KE35 had a metal heat shield fitted to the mount.

 

Splitting the problem into one area or the other, will narrow down where to look for the problem.

OK i did that and i can hear some wheel bearing problems i think... il firstly change them.

I am wondering if its worth doing a coil over sleeve job on my front struts, and a leaf spring reset with new shocks ?

If youre going that far may as well upgrade the whole strut/brakes.

I just love that car paul I have tha same type of car for me is still in productions its a cool model .

yes iv herd the xt130 strut is a common thing... I'm just not sure if i do that what else do i need to change ? if i get struts with breaks do they just hook up to my current setup ? and another thing sis the control arms... whats the deal there ? i would proffer to do up a better strut but i honesty don't know enough about it.. is there a thread where someone has done it ?
