frknstn Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 just scored some cusco cambertops today, been looking for upperhats for them and only ones i can find forsale are the t3 ones. ( havn't looked very hard) but ive been reading people having trouble with them binding against the tops and stopping them from turning. can anyone point me in the right direction as to what ones to use Quote
silverra23 Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 the t3 system is designed to work with the t3 hat there is a note here that says the t3 system doesn't work with the cusco campertop - http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/13345-T3-Camber-plate-upper-hat-system i needed to space the top spring perch off the bottom of my cusco cambertop. i don't think i had any binding issues, but if you were concerned you could machine your top hats and fit a bearing in there like the t3 ones have my cusco cambertop photo installation is in the ke35 thread in my signature Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 I found some thick n heavy steel washers that rode nicely on the t3 top hat needle bearing and placed the load nicely on the nut under the cusco camber top bearing. Worked great for me. Quote
ke70dave Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 I had to get the local machine shop to machine a spacer for when i used JIC camber tops with KYB shocks and some random coilover spring kit. Essentially it was pretty much the same as using a few washers, just a little neater i guess. Quote
frknstn Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks guys will suss it outvwhen they arrive Quote
styler Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 This is a common issue with aftermarket camber tops and binding etc... Some solutions can be fabricated up though Quote
