rolla bandit Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Hows it going? I am in the process of modifying a Ke55 Corolla. I have obtained a 2TG engine for her but before I rip out the old 4KC I wanted to know if there are any major differences in the required engine mounts between a 4KC and a 2TG motor. Any advice or help anybody could give me on the subject would be greatly appreciated Quote

Redwarf Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 If you're in Brisbane you're more than welcome to have a look at mine, and discuss the job. You might want to think about a diff upgrade, too. Quote
Ke50 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 sorry to hi-jack, but if i already have a 2t fitted in my car, if i wanted to upgrade later it would just bolt straight in wouldnt it? possibly even with the same extractors?? and why is efi not as popular with these engines? cheers. Quote

I just got a rebuilt Celica Diff which I am sending off to get mini-spooled in the next week or so, however I have been wondering about the brakes. When you did your conversion did you upgrade your brakes? I am pretty sure that I will have to change my master cylinder. Is it better to buy an aftermarket item or is there something from another car that will work? Quote

I know the intake is certainaly different, but I can't remember what gasket I used for the exhaust. It's because the head is totally different; much wider. 3) Because it was early generation EFI and generally regarded as not much good. Quote

I still run TA22 brakes all round on the car, however when I find more than two seconds to scratch myself, they will be upgraded further. Demuire in here did a really god front upgrade, and I'm looking at something like Pintara rear disks for mine. I don't know what master cylinder is in mine, I think possibly TA22, however it's not that big, and not remotely mounted, however it is a squeeze. FWIW, My car. Quote
pozman Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 the engine only requires slight adjustments to the mounts aperantly?, ive got a 3t in mine, the celica gearbox also needs the holes on the cross member to be back about a cm or two and the tale shaft fits fine. i think you might have clearance problems with the carbs and master cylinder as mine only has single and that is tight Quote
munki Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Hi here is what we used when converting a ke55 to 2tg hope this helps Daniel Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 I'am thinking of doing this conversion myself, Just wondering wether you have to get the car engineered, or can i just rock up to roadworthy inspection and it will be right? Quote
pozman Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 i think technically it needs to be engineered, but if you find the "right" roadwothy "tester" they wont worry to much. they said mine was too big but he didn't care :) Quote
pozman Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) mines a 3t too so 1.8 litre Edited May 13, 2006 by pozman Quote
Redwarf Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 .... Until the day you crash it and insurance won't come to the party because it isn't engineered. For (&*^% sake people, get'em engineered, it isn't as big and scary as one would expect. Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Sorry RD, But the nearest engineer place around here is 4-5 hours away. Quote
