what engine should i go for i my AE 92 corolla i want something that has some power 2 it

I reckon a 1GZ-FE or a 1UR-FSE would give you some nice power. Or you could be a little more different and use a 1KD-FTV.

wats the price range is it around the 4000 to 6000 mark

Yep, 4A-GE's are great, but nowhere near the power potential of the 1UR-FSE or the 1GZ-FE. The 1KD-FTV would probably make more power in the end than the 4A-GE, and definitely far more torque.

why load up a FWD with heaps of power? hunt pigs, not gutters.

rolla stewy - seriously (and no, none of my previous answers were serious), a 4A-G engine of some shape or form is going to be the best and easiest engine to put in your AE92. You could go for a 3S-GE or 3S-GTE, but then you've got some problems making it all fit, plus good luck getting it engineered. As far as choices go your best are as follows, depending on what you can find within your price range (remember you may need computer etc):

 

Smallport 4A-GE: this is the later version of the 4A-GE with 100kW. You can't put the bigport 4A-GE in your car if you want to get it registered as it's an older motor than the car you're putting it in. The AE92 was available in Australia with the 100kW motor from the factory, so this is easy to do.

 

4A-GE 20-valve: this is a 120/125kW engine (depending on silvertop 120 or blacktop 125). You have to get a motor that has been shipped over from Japan as no model was sold in Australia with this motor. It'll pretty much bolt in, but you'll need to drill some holes to mount the coils for this motor.

 

4A-GZE: This is the supercharged 4A-GE. You'll only be able to use a late model 125kW version (not the earlier 110kW version) as the early version will most likely be too early for your car. Many people say this is a better engine to have than the 20-valve as it is easier to drive every day (more torque), but the 20-valve engine revs harder (although they still have the same claimed power).

 

Take your pick, these are your best choices.

Once they hookup, sure. Having driven only FWD cars until I got Lola, I can't say I've really enjoyed them that much. Except the Starlet, which is wickedly fun to race because you get some lift off oversteer happening, then plant your right foot and understeer your way out of a corner in a nice four wheel drift. :(

Theres an AE82 hatch in brissy with a fully complied 3SGTE so i doubt it would be too hard.

There is a GT4 Celica with a fully complied twin turbo quad cam V8 in it...doesn't mean it was easy....just means it has been done once

no worse than a 1uzfe in a ae86 complied.

 

and ancullen the earlier 4agze was in an ae92 chasis so its usable, but since they are getting up in age and getting harder to find.

 

my suggestion is either a 4age 16v, or if u want to 4age 20v. but this brings up the whole 16v Vs 20v.

 

but if u really want to avoid the hassle of engineenring etc etc, u could always buy a already converted corolla. but in the end it all comes down to what u want to do stewy.

Stewy stewy stewy! :) You doubting me and my suggestions! The only real way to power up your AE92 would be the 4age in some form as ancullen has suggested! All other options will require some serious engineering and/or cash! The 1UR- FSE would be a great idea :monkey: but i tend to think space might become an issue! Why not just ask your old man for his 6cyl out of his 100 series cruiser! :P:
