Hey guys,

I'm soon to be replacing my smokey 3K in my hardtop. I rang up Repco, and asked them how much it would cost to rebuild a 4K with a BHG. They said $1,500+. But you can buy 4K rebuilt short motors off them for $900 bux. I was just wondering has anyone specialised with Repco, and how good are they? Also when I change the motor, it would probably be a good idea to get a new clutch as mine slips up hills. Whats a decent clutch? I'm only using the car for a Daily Driver for the time being. Thanks guys

I'm rebuilding my 1ggte including full balancing and including ridiculous jdm only model parts prices it should come out under a grand.

don't talk to repco. they are the uber gheyness.

get a gregories, it will guide you step by step through the process.

and what damage is actually done to the motor?

I'd rather someone do it properly, I'll probably f@$k something. The 4K that I got for free done a BHG and the people kept driving it, and the oil was like sludge. I think it's seized too. I don't know what to do lol :(

Cheers

never ganna learn if you don't try it.

I'm rebuilding the 1g, and its an expensive jdm engine, with excessively expensive parts...and its my first one.

just pay attention to what your doing, and talk to your head shop as you go, (you'll need a headshop for the skim, so they should help you out to a certain extent in giving you pointers)

be brave, not rash and you'll get it done.

but you have to consider how much money a poopie 4k is worth

i sold my good engine for under 200 bucks i think it was, theyre worth SFA :(

Definately try the 5K.

If your to scared to do it yourself shop

around and find a good mechanic who

doesn't mind you sticking your nose into

what he is doing.

That is what Craig and I did with the 7K

Next motor I am going to be far more confident

to try.
