jamesrolla Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) i have a ke38 diff which is borg and a ke20 borg in my car, i want to upgrade to late model stud pattern so i can get better wheel and tyres choice. am i better off using ke30 B/W axles or ke38, i don't want to get a jap diff because i have just done the mounts, tail shaft and hand brake to borg spec can anyone help me please cheers james Edited July 4, 2006 by jamesrolla Quote
coln72 Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 just machine a bees off the end of the KE38 axels and they will slot into a KE20 diff housing. Two ways of changing the front stud pattern to match swap the whole brake assembly from the 38 onto the 20, using the inner bearing from the 20 and thee outer from the 38 from memory or maybe keep your original discs and bolt on the 38 hub. jamesrolla Posted July 5, 2006 Author Report Posted July 5, 2006 so its still ok that its borg??? ke38 is the same as ke55 i think so are they still the same???? i allready have the ke38 brakes on the front and i have the hubs ready to go on just got to switch the bearings and on go those 13x7 wheels  how much do i have to take off the ends of the axles and will i have to get it done properly by some one else or can i do it at home???? cheers james Quote
irokin Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 Get it done properly, its hard metal. I'm not sure exactly how much you want to take off, but definetly get it done. I had both axels stuck in a perfectly good jap KE20 diff because the ends burred from rubbing on the pinion. They were KE30 jap axels. Quote
Felix Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 I had both axels stuck..... they were really stuck! think you need to remove about 3mm from each axle. put both types of axles side by side and you will know for sure. Quote
ScottKE1X Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Any chance of getting a pic or two of the '20 diff in your car James? woulding mind seeing how it sits. Cheers, Scott. Quote
