In the industry atm, the 190Kw FWD MPS 3 Mazda has got people talking. Even the blokes at Toyota are raving on about it. Yes, i would love to drive it.

 

Yes, its a new camry. don't get me started on the Pros and Cons..

 

Personally, i think i could fart more exciting things than the Camry range in general.. well, most of the current toyota range is pretty bland, slow and unexciting. Altho Toyotas in general are really good to work on, some of the ergonomics & designing charastics are... &$$^@%.

I've driven the MPS6 as well. More of a Liberty GT type of car than a WRX type of car. Good to drive, clutch takes getting used to, excellent on road, capable on track, although a hint understeer-y for my liking.

front end is very mazda isnt it. and the whole thing looks kind of hyundai too... ah well. as for the 3 mps, a mate of mine is getting the first blue one in aus. it is the fastest fwd you can get in australia apparently and would eat a new liberty gt...thats just scary.

I drove the Mazda3 when it was first released (just the basic model :) ) and it was brilliant. I had driven the Mazda2 prior to that (as the salesman assumed that was all I could afford) and hated it. Given half a chance I'd buy a Mazda3 (especially the MPS) over the current Corolla ANY day of the week - if I still had the funds :) . Didn't buy one at the time because I didn't like the idea of how much you lose when you buy a new car.

 

Also, Toyota should start showing the new Corolla soon. They had to redesign it, as it was SOOO boring compared to the new Civic - mainly the three door & Type-R.

 

2008 Corolla from Motor Trend magazine - better, but still too dull. This could be the US-only version though.

I hope this is Toyota being tricky and trying to fool us and they're not really going to have a Subaru front rip-off.

Now this is promising. There has been talk of a new GT4 for a while, and that it would be a Corolla, not a Celica or Caldina. This car looks very Yaris-ish, with a fair bit of Mazda3 thrown at it. There is also a rumour that Toyota has been testing a 3.5L V6 Corolla, which we supposedly won't see for sale in Australia.

Mmm, tasty isn't it? There's talk of a 2.5L turbo engine powering it, and all leads seem to point to that engine coming from the AZ-family. I would have thought that if an AZ-engine was going to be used, it would be a turbo version of the 2.4L 2AZ-FE. It also indicates that the basic engine may move up to 2L, and be the 1AZ-FE. Of course, overseas markets) mainly Europe, require smaller engines, so the ZZ-series may continue.

Hopefully direct injection may be used like the new GR and UR series motors, as they make great power per litre. The other info I forgot is that Toyota's building or changing an engine plant (in the US I think) which will be producing the ZR-series engine (supposedly), so maybe my comments about the ZZ and AZ series can probably be dismissed.

Looks a bit funny if you ask me. Slightly different to the black GT4 in bad way. Front (grille area) looks a bit like an Audi rip-off. When will Toyota stop ripping others off and develop their own look again (eg. Sprinter).

Supposedly the new JDM Corolla sedan. Unbelievably dull and crappy looking.

The 'Netz' at the top left appears to be most like the camoflauged Corolla I posted earlier. The red side shot at the bottom makes it apparent that the new model looks a LOT like the current model, but with MPV style quarter glass in front of the mirrors. Even the red wagon on the left looks better than the silver and white sedans. Don't know why a Mitsubishi is pictured with them.
