love ke70 Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 ummmm raven, a blow off valve, firstly, does not release all boost pressure and secondly by relieving the extra pressure it stops the turbo stalling Quote
SoulSearcher Posted November 16, 2006 Author Report Posted November 16, 2006 and thirdly, I AM a poser and I like the pssshhhttt and suprising people that my car is a turbo :hmm: LOL Lesley :) Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 actually raven has a point a dump valve on a road car is a bit pointless. compressor stall isnt an issuse on the road, and a lot of the real loud aftermarket valves have a soft spring to get the noise, meaning when you nail it again the first bit of boost leaks out and you have actually decreased performance Quote
SoulSearcher Posted November 17, 2006 Author Report Posted November 17, 2006 *sob* I got my car back yesterday, some knob-head bastard *(&*(%&*%(^ put my rear windscreen on horizontally instead of vertically and when I turned it on it scratched (badly) the paint on my hatch. When I went back to Toyota I cried at them. I've been working on the car for 4 months getting the car ready for SCS and now I can't put it in ... :hmm: I'm not a happy camper Lesley :) Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 easy fix. go in and tell them you need it fixed NOW. if they um and ah or say can't do GO NUTS. its 100% their fault and they must fix it. why did they have it off? Quote
SoulSearcher Posted November 18, 2006 Author Report Posted November 18, 2006 oh, they're fixing it all right, next week (probably on Wednesday) it's going in to get the entire hatch panel repainted at their expense. It's just a complete shit that it happened TWO days before SCS!!! I had all the paperwork completed and in the car ready to drive down to submit it on Friday and then that happened. The reason it was off? Last week (the 2nd to last time I got it back) I washed it and when I was chamois-ing the rear window, I lifted up the wiper and it fell off in my hand, the pin thingo had broken and it was just resting on the glass. So when it went in for the new turbo I asked them to fix it. They did but put it back on wrong. The new wiper blade is mangled too so I'll ask Howard (my toyota guy) to get them to replace that too. The really, really SUCKY thing is, the Service MANAGER didn't know ANYTHING about my car, he asked me stupid questions like, "oh, how many of these things are there??" It's a frickin' limited edition for craps sake!! and THEN he said "Oh, well at least you got a new engine and turbo, it's almost like new!!" I mean REALLY! Except for the f@$ked up paintwork!! I'm just really embarrassed that I cried in the dealership because I couldn't put my car in to be judged at SCS. I can't believe how upset I was...when I got back to work I burst into tears again and my tech (who's never seen me upset) didn't know what to do with me, I think me crying scared him more than me being outrageously mad. Anyway these things happen and I'm almost over it. I'll just be glad when there's no problems. Lesley *end of vent* Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 your lucky i own 2 of the most notorius toyotas for rust, usually when i grap things and the fall off i have to strip half a car to fix it :hmm: Quote
love ke70 Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 to see is girl cry is the most daunting thing a man will ever face. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted November 26, 2006 Report Posted November 26, 2006 agreed! Lesley, I really hope you start having some good luck with the car soon! Your doing well to not be going nuts by now! Quote
SoulSearcher Posted November 27, 2006 Author Report Posted November 27, 2006 Do you know I will have owned the car for a year on 3rd January 07?! I just got my insurance renewal!!! I can't believe it's been a year... Oh, I popped into Toyota today, they're having the car on Monday and Tuesday next week for the hatch to be resprayed and they also checked out the temporary catch can they put in (to check for oil leaks) and it was bone dry. It's been running like a dream, sounds pssshhhttty (the good way not the shhh way :jamie: ) and next week I'll have the paint done, the new windscreen done, hopefully the re-tint and then the mags some time over christmas. So I can see the light at the end of the tunnel FINALLY!!!! Lesley :) Quote
