right, well it was all in and running, rwc booked for 8 in the morning on thursday

i tow it down to the servo as i ran out of gas the night before hehe

try to start and it wont

feels like cam timing has gone all wrong. get all upset angry emo and then just determined to fix it

tow it home, find an effed oil pump pulley (Will get pics)

what happened was the nut that holds the pulley on stripped the thread on the shaft, and worked its way loose, and then the pulley has come loose and the centre of the pulley turned to filings inside the timing belt case = big mess!

sooo I'm like alright, go get new pulley, create new thread and put bolt on, should be done in an hr or 2

WRONG

go to toyota...oh yeah, thats 150 just for the pulley, ex japan so thatll be 3 weeks.

i walk out

do some wrecker hunting to no avail

so I'm like "ahh, tim had that n.a. 1g that he uses for spares"

call tim, tim still has the oil pump and pulley but the motor is in storage, 5 minutes from where i am

but he has the only keys

so i drive like 30 minutes to tims, then he has to go get his payslip n shit

so like 2 hrs later we arrive about 1km from where i called him to ask about the pulley

so, we dick around, get the oil pump and pulley off the motor, i go home and find that the n.a and turbo oil pumps are different and not even the centres can interchange so I'm like ok

lets just put the pulley on the old pump like i originally planned.next paragraph..

turns out the pulley i have now got has a D shaped hole, just like the turbo one only the hole is 1mm smaller

so I'm like cool, ill take this to the engineering place and get them to machine the shaft to fit this new pulley and put the thread on to suit a nut i found up

so go in, the guys like yeah thatll be about 30 dollars and be ready at 10 tomorrow (this was thursday afternoon)

so i go in this morning and hes like, ive done the work but theres a problem, and he shows me. puts the shaft in the lathe and sets it spinning, and it runs fine, no wobbles

puts the new pulley off the n.a. motor onto the shaft and spins it again, pulley is wobbling side to side

and this is only at 750 rpm lol

so I'm like ah fark

go to my local wreckers and spend an hr hunting thru motors and find a 3sf with a oil pump pulley on thats only a little bit smaller. so I'm this will do then spend an hr to try and get it off before i get some mofo with a rattle gun to do it in like 1 minute lol

so 10 bucks later i have the 3sf pulley, which thankfully fit the now machined shaft and we put it in the lathe at home

and it spins just fine

so I'm like yay

is about 1 by now

so I'm like ech, lets get to this, have everything back together by 3.30 start her up and am planning to get the rwc this afternoon

BUT the timing belt upper case melts the f@$king timing belt

so i have to now space that coz its started rubbing, and then ill be all good :2thumbs:

think i may have cooked the turbos with the lack of oil pressure hehe, ill give it a good run and see if it was all jus lag i was gettin in the backyard or what, it started to make boost but i had to shut it down coz i was running out of green

anywho, I'm gonna shutup, feel free to say nothing, i just thought someone might like to know my 1g is more evil than most other motors...

see i told ya it was a homo engine :D , but noooooo luke is never right is he, on another note give me this now bastardised 1g and ill give you ur choice of a hassel free 2t, or a even better neeeessan poosar :2thumbs: :n:

and the aftermath

two f@$ked turbos

i wanted to do a single upgrade anyway

but 1ggte with no boost = BORING!

so bring on a job and a great big garret GT3071R

this is true, but i would likely have to buy genuine spares so it still wont be cheap

the stock turbo layout is a c**t to deal with in the ke70 engine bay (one of the hard line oil returns goes AROUND the steering arm and its impossible to do anything to them with ease

the ct12's are very small and have to be worked very hard to make decent boost and likely wont last very long

they are also a rather resrictive design

so all in all, you can see why I'm doing this upgade now rather than wasting more money on crappy stock twins

how about bigger twins :P

or sequential :y:

Because you almost double the cost in turbos....then youve got custom manifolds, two dumps, custom cooler piping and then trying to get the bloody thing to run correctly (with sequentials)

theres a bloke running bigger twins, 2 T25's in fact

and he can't get much more boost than 20 odd psi because thats the maximum one of the turbos can push putting 2 together doesnt make them able to make more boost.

sequential = how the hell would that fit in a ke70 bay? :y:

ive had enough dicking around, doin it proper like this time :P
