  4. So i kinda started on a seperate topic, and then thought what the hell, lets just make a seperate Cruise. i certainly don't want to upset anyone! HERE IT IS> (I'm way bored at work) I wanna Drive my Car, and i like my cars a little motorsport orentated. Now were not driving GTR's here, but hell, lets at least pretend like we do (extra points awarded for nissan stickers). Therefore, the following is a day of Driving, with various stops for food, coffee, petrol and the necessary Donut stop (toilets are you;re own concern :D) I'm thinking that we start at Southerland, drive through the National Park to my home land - the gong, have a quick stop somewhere cool, continue on down to Kiama, Have some lunch, back to Macquarie pass, across Robertson, down Kangaroo valley stopping in Berry for the customery Donuts, then for the die-hards, BBQ dinner at my place back in the gong on the way through. I will properly link this in Google so you can see. Please feel free to join / come / go as you please through-out the day. I fair couldn't care less, a couple of my mates (local) will be doing the same. I reckon BYO personal CB Radio so the shinanigans can continue all day. Feel free to bring some friends, hot girlfriends are especially welcome! Anyone bringing spare beer to the Dinner at my place will be given preferential treatment all day, however a limitation set by my wife ensures that this preferential treatment is to stop at sexual favors. I'm sure however that there will be other willing souls coming on the day. Let me know your thoughts, route changes and the like, its all fair game! ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!
  5. Man, i wish i could be there. I actually just started typing how good its going to be only to realise that the proposed date is across my honeymoon! I really should be across this shit! Anyway, being on the south coast, i'd be happy as hell to have a cruise down this way, could even put on a BBQ (you'd just need to be ok with 'very friendly' puppies!
  6. Thanks for the heads up; Unfortunately just been very busy lately with working overseas, getting married in 4 weeks and trying to Train for Triathlons (3 sports is a bad idea BTW) so i've struggling just to keep the house work going. Not to mention that i finally got all the odds and ends sorted with the 5K and started only to find the Head Gasket was leaking. Ordered one from the local auto suplies store, waited 5 days only to find they hadn't ordered it! FML LOL. Anyway, rocked up today, so hopefully on sunday i'll get a crack at getting it running, then its off to the exhaust shop...
  7. Hey Ninja, Yep it sucked. Bought the engine only like 7 days ago, the guys was like' yeah man, awesome engine, nothing wrong and stored well'. The thing was basically seized... Anyway, i'm just glad i got it running without having to do a complete build on it... As its only a temperary engine until the race thing is done...
  8. So then i had to set about getting all the parts to do a semi-rebuild. in the end, it wasnt possible so i done the 'dodgey'. I got some Rust-off / wd40 and cleaned it all up as best i could. It didn't turn out too bad. I then Spent a lot more time cleaning. Once it was all off (the liners and the piston) i got a small Hone and quickly ran it up and down all the cylinders. Cranked the motor over quite a few times and were getting some crap from between the rings (i assume) and kept going till on more appeared. Anyway, put the engine all back on and she fired up pretty well straight away (with some fuel down the carbs!) and ran quite well. As she sits now, the carbs linkages and all need adjustment. How it is, it wont idle below 1800, which without an exhaust and what appears to be a large cam is beautiful! But not practical... As it sits now:
  9. Ok, So my weekend has been a little up and down. On Friday night i had to accept that sunday was no option. The reason:
  10. NOT ENOUGH TO WARRANT THAT SPEND!!! :D Anyway, I thought i'd throw up a photo of the new car that will eventually get this engine... All in all, not in bad condition, but i'm struggeling to get this thing done for toyotafest which was the goal. Not so much an issue of getting it in and wired, more so an issue of simply getting an exhaust that will fit in there (headers). ANyway, otherwise all is good...
  11. That strut brace looks only marginally stiffer 8/
  12. Taz_RX was pretty right. Those Speedway dads are pretty 'dedicated'. :D I'm still yet to phone up Crow to see if they will still make them. there are plenty of other parts available for them though... Crank is coming along slowly, but looking beautiful! I pick up the KE30 rolling shell tonight from like 2+ hours away, hopefully i can get the spare 5k and everything in there before the weekend, as i would love to get up to toyotafest in Sydney on the Sunday (mrs works on Sundays - best shifts ever!)
  13. I'm picking up a rolling shell tonight and hoping to have it ready in time to come up :hmm: anyway, time and sleepless nights will tell...

    Jed's Ae82

WOW - thats purchase of the decade
  15. I might try to call them and see what they may make. Their current catalogue on the web doesn't list anything for our k engines, so here's hoping. Least I have a photo to mimic!!! And yeah, you can see by the 600 price already 3 days out from auction end... And in other news, were changing the car to a KE30 coupe... At the moment, I will hopefully be picking up the car on Tuesday night, and fitting a worked 5k i have floating around. Reason for purchasing this is that it's already rego'd. Keto with its Suspension and what not was just too much, and basically I bought the roller for not much more than the price of rego... Some good purchasing!
  16. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Corolla-Roller-Rockers-KE10-KE15-KE17-KE20-KE30-KE70-3K-4K-5K-7K-/261098975905?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccab632a1#ht_500wt_922 Well this may solve this issue, they're obviously available from somewhere!!!
  17. Yeah, I think the rods are massive overkill....
  18. Whilst I'm post whoring on my own thread, heres a photo of the existing solid lift and the proposed roller that needs to get 'on board'!!!
  19. OMG, Its Christmas time. OK, interesting fact, 3k conrods = 112mm, not the 120mm i was working off. And, my 4AGE rods are 122mm, exactly 10mm longer. Suzuki GSXR1100 pistons compression height difference = EXACTLY 10mm. Therefore, in your 3k, you can pull out the old, replace with this set-up and not have to touch the block at all. I measure the standard set-up with all kit up at around 935grams for the rod + piston assembly. I measured my set-up (with no rings and the wrong pin) at 650Grams. the 4AGE H beam rods are significantly heavier, but the GSXR pistons are considereably lighter + smaller. This is a cool developement, but I'm a little worried now that the combustion chambers in the head might be too small, anyway, we can worry about this later, i have spare head housings everything can be transferred across, although it would make alot more work. The second photo shows the size difference a little better...
  20. BTW, thanks to eneryone for their assistance in infomation + links and so on. Its great!
  21. Sweet! Loving the fact that this is creating some Constructive discussions with the members, unlike so many other sites... Anyway, yep, i finish cleaning + prepping the block tomorrow, so then i will start to Draw up the roller lifters and get them made, as well as get orrganised with what ever block modifactions. Once thats done, i then have to send it up to Tighe and get them to make a billet cam. We're still discussing the specs, but for that high an RPM, we're looking at some slight modification / mix + matching the high end cam specs for the inlet and Exhaust to see if we can better suit the Turbo. Anyway, once drawings are done i'll post some photos up. Also looking at anther shell to put this all into, but not too sure if that will come off or not... Possibly more info later.
  22. Lol@ the ac comment! Sweet looking ride. Only wish wagons that old were so 'unrusty' here!
  23. Well our company also has a Diesel Fuel Injection division which utilises rollers for the cam followers in the high speed fuel pumps. So, currently on my desk i have a small roller which should do the job awesomely, and i think i'd be able to make up a nice little holder that will slide straight into the standard block. As you rightfully point out however, its a matter of keeping them straight and located... I don't think that its a deal breaker of a problem. I'll definately look into roller Rockers. For what i'm hoping for, i think it might be a wise move. Yum, billet roller rockers!!! some more internal bling no one will get to see...
  24. Its actually a very interesting process. If you look at the 3 circles, its more - or - less a degree and magnatude the centre of weight is from the centre of the shaft. Of the 3 circles on the screen, the centre is essentially the 'net unbalance' or more correctly static unbalance. the two of either side show the 'wobble' of that unbalnce (or it really called dynamic unbalance). The dynamic can be a very tricky mistress on these things, especially on something that light.
  25. Ok, so i've been busy lately sorting out the Crank, removing all of the nasty casting lines, polishing and rounding, making one beautiful looking peice of art that no one will ever see! Anyway, been talking with our friends from Tighe cams, and it appears as though we might be best going to roller type lifters, which then begs the question of roller rockers. I can make most of this stuff anyway, but I'm pretty new to this push-rod stuff. So the question is, whats involved in modifing (or how are the manufactured) push-rods different from a roller rocker top as aposed to the ball top (I'm assuming there must be a difference!)
